Sometimes, it’s just impossible to find that perfect piece for your bedroom in a department store.
Everyone is different, and expresses themselves differently in their space. And nothing is more personal than how one decorates their own bedroom. So when one of our customers wanted to express herself in her room, the only way to make it just right was to make it. From scratch…and Thrift Town. Sherry: you are a creative go-getter. “Here is the awesome headboard that my parents and I created for my bed. The animal print is a shower curtain ($3), the two black sheer panels are window curtains ($7, combined), we used 2 pillows ($10, combined) for the breasts, and the buttons are washers ($1, combined) which are covered with the shower curtain material that we had left over. The red ribbon ($1) came from the Christmas section and the feather boa ($8) was in the Halloween Section.
I had had this idea for a headboard for years and finally shared it with my parents who helped me realize my dream. My dad cut a piece of plywood in the shape of a bustier and my mom and I designed the headboard with materials that we found at the Thrift Town in Albuquerque. Since my room has an animal print motif, I wanted to stick with that theme. For special holidays, the boa and the ribbon can be easily be switched out to produce different color schemes.
