Charming, Ugly, Elegant or Cheesy - any way you dress for a Holiday Party, it’s festive & cheaper to shop at Thrift Town.
If you have yet to be invited to an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party (UCSP), I feel like it is only a matter of time. These over-the-top displays of yuletide knitted insanity have exploded in popularity in the past few years, to the point where I’m wondering if anyone has classy cocktails & swanky attire at Holiday parties anymore. But despite my aversion to the actual theme of the parties (I love to dress up, what can I say??) the now infamous UCSP can be loads of fun, and almost always makes for hilarious pictures with friends. You can probably guess where I got my ugly Christmas sweater this year… yep: TT.
{ my friends Wes & Elizabeth looking particularly festive. }

{ my other friends Jamie & Susan. Ugly never looked so purdy.}
So if you still have a UCSP to go to, hit up Thrift Town first, and keep it for next year’s round of holiday party craziness.

If you have a grown-up, dress-up party to go to, Thrift Town is still a great place to hit up!
Around Halloween time, Mad Men themed costumes were big. I’m not sure if the show influenced the fashion, or it just lined up with the trends, but either way - current fashion is definitely leaning a bit Mad Men - classy 1960′s. But since you aren’t going to a costume party, there’s a couple ways to infuse your outfits with a little vintage trendiness.
Vintage broaches are always a great TT find! This one had feathers added to it, but you can use a regular
broach on the front of a jacket, in your hair, or to cinch the back of a blouse. Inexpensive, chic & unique.
High waisted skirts in bold retro prints are great for glamming it up for the holidays.
Pair with basic staples for a top, or a structured solid colored blouse. This vintage layered necklace is also a great touch. All found at TT.
True vintage red lipstick is a big trend right now! This is me & my best friend at a holiday party, both decked out from TT.
I’m wearing my perfect little black dress (that I got from TT for $3!!), vintage earrings and (unpictured) vintage TT houndstooth heels from the 50′s.
For the guys: tailoring is big! Take those TT collared shirts to a tailor & get them fit just right.
Pair with a vintage skinny tie and you’re set to match your already glam lady for a fun evening out.
Whatever the occasion, have a safe, fashionable, wonderful time!

I purchased my daughter’s first formal at a sample shop for $100, and the next one at the Dillard’s outlet for $50 and thought they were great deals. After all, what young lady wants to be seen in the same dress the same spring? Then my income dropped significantly.
My daughter needed things to wear to several more formal occasions as she went thru high school - what was I going to do? She saved her own money and shopped at Thrift Town. She wore those 3 after-5 dresses to proms and banquets, and never received so many compliments from her peers.
3 CHEERS for going and saving GREEN!!
