Celebrate the New Season with Color!
HOORAY FOR FALL TIME! It’s that absolutely perfect time of year - looking forward to family gatherings, no holiday pressure, gorgeous weather… I’m so excited for the leaves and wind. Since this time of year makes me so inexplicably happy, today I decided to reflect that in my wardrobe. But when I think of happy colors, I don’t usually think of a rich fall palette. So…
This is my version of how to do fall cheer:
Necessary warmth + pop of color + statement accessory pieces.
My beloved ‘watermelon blouse’ was just the pop of colorful cheer this outfit needed. These shades are not just for summer - you can layer lightweight neutral colored cardigans or a simple jacket over warmer weather tops, and still enjoy their smile-inducing colors. {$1.99 at Thrift Town}
I’m also just a little bit obsessed with my Tiffany-colored nails.
Even with an all-neutral outfit, these finger tints just make me grin,
so good luck wiping this look off my face.
Buying thrifted hats isn’t for everyone, but washable ones are a no-brainer for me.
This sweet slouchy crocheted grin of a hat works in any season. {$0.99 at Thrift Town}
Keeping with the creme crocheted theme, this ultra-feminine arm accessory was made by yours truly from thrifted pieces. The polka-bloom was removed from the front of an otherwise simple silk blouse I bought at Thrift Town that looked much better sans awkwardly placed ginormous flower.
With a simple pass of the glue-gun, I added a felt circle to the back & then attached a basic pin and a hair clip from the craft store. I then used a piece of lace (also removed from a now-repurposed Thrift Town purchase), and secured the ends with the pin on the polka-piece. TA-DA!
These shoes: my cold-weather staple. As a business woman, my heels are my secret weapon: I feel more powerful when I wear them… Also, at 5’3, every little bit helps. This pair in particular gives me the height, and are neutral for business looks, but still have a lot of personality. Like sassy black business oxfords for women. {$5.99 at Thrift Town}

So all in all, I’m under my usual self-induced $20/outfit quota.
And for the number of compliments on this look today, I’d say it was worth every penny!
