Archive for the dress fiend

You’re probably wondering what this all has to do with fashion right?! Well, I’m currently involved with two events that I feel are pretty darn amazing. Did I mention that each event has recycled fashion involved, too?! Fashionable soirees for a good cause = I’m THERE in a fashion heartbeat!

Whether you work in a strict dress code environment or a relaxed, free spirit type of office, it’s still important to look professional and stylish. I’m all about individuality, creativity, and being who you are, but a pet peeve of mine is when people look sloppy and unprofessional at work. It takes little effort to look good and professional and that little bit of effort can take people a long way in the work force. One of my favorite quotes from Edith Head (legendary fashion designer) read: “You can have anything in life, if you dress for it.” I believe that to be true with all my heart and fashionable soul. We are what we wear and that can leave a really good impression on any future employers.

Friday, June 21st marked the first day of summer and the first day to throw aside the stuffy suits, sweaters, and anything keeping you from all things summer! Wanna know a little secret? I HATE the winter months and fully embrace the warmer weather when it finally arrives. I’m even one of those people who relishes the 100 degree weather and embraces all things dresses, hats, and opened toed shoes. I rely solely on Ms Minty, my beach cruiser extraordinaire, to get me around Midtown Sacramento and don’t particularly enjoy biking in the cold – ok, unless doing it in style with a thrifted warm hat, gloves, scarf, and massive trench. BUT, I much prefer hot weather and couldn’t be happier that it’s summer in Sacramento.
