HERE’S TO THE WINNERS!
Happy Thursday, Thrift Fans! Here at Thrift Town, we love hearing from you, our loyal and thrifty customers. It’s so great to see pictures & hear the stories behind the treasures you find and the creative ways you incorporate them into your lives. Thrift Town’s quarterly “What a Find” contest is a great way for us to show off what you all have sent in and celebrate thrift together.
As always, it was hard to choose for each category, but we’ve narrowed it down and notified the lucky winners. Whether it’s a (pint-sized) collector who knows her product, a crafty mom & daughter team, or a keen eye for a potentially high-end find, our winners show off what we love about shopping secondhand at Thrift Town. Each of our featured winners received a $25 Thrift Town Gift Card prize. This is an ongoing contest for us, so if you have something fabulous to share - send it in! For more info click here.
. . . . . . . AND THE WINNERS ARE . . . . . . .
BEST Housewares / Furniture: Coleen Z., San Leandro
My great find was a “Le Crueset” pot with lid that was in perfect condition! Retail for this item is usually around $79-$100.
{ Total cost of the pot: $20.00 }
That was a great day! Hope I win the gift certificate so I may find another GREAT FIND
Thank you!
Coleen: Housewares can be so expensive, and it’s always exciting to find a high end item for less. Congrats on the great find! Keep sending in your Thrift Town treasures, we love to see it.

BEST Collectible: Flecia M., Arlington TX
On a Visit to Thrift Town, my daughter, who collects American Girl Dolls found an American Girl Doll (Kailey) in the toy section. She had a swimsuit on and a few scars on her face, as well as pretty mangled hair. We bought her, cleaned her up, combed her hair, and put new clothes on her. This is the end product:
{ Total Cost of the Doll: $3.50 + tax }
Flecia - This is great! We love that your little girl is already a collector and using thrifting as a way to do it! These American Girl dolls are SO expensive to buy new, and once you cleaned her up, she looks good as new- this is truly a great find.

Best DIY: Mila & Heidi H., San Antonia TX
I assisted my 7-year old daughter, Mila, in creating this recycled sculpture of cats & dogs. We spray painted some & left others as is. We then simply hot glued them in the lid of a pot. We purchased all but the paint & glue at Thrift Town.
The total cost of the project was around $12. It’s a great summer time project which we plan to elaborate on to give as gifts!
Heidi: It’s great to see families doing fun DIY projects together, and teaching thriftiness and being green at the same time is awesome. Glad you and your daughter had good times together making your colorful sculpture - hope you can use your gift card for more family fun!

BEST FASHION FIND: Ana T.
I’m an avid bargain hunter and Thrift Town is my favorite place because I always find a great treasure every time I visit my local store! A couple of weeks ago, I found a beautiful genuine snake skin shoulder bag. It was in perfect condition and although I didn’t recognize the name on the label, I had a hunch that it was a high-end item so I decided to buy it. The best part of all was that it was a blue tag item, which just happened to be half-off that day:)
When I got home, I did an online search for the name on the label, which is Kazuyo Nakano.
To my surprise, I found out that this bag is indeed a high-end designer item that normally retails for about $450-$500. This is just my latest example of the many wonderful treasures that I have found at my local Thrift Town. I look forward to many more!

Ahh, you ask, “which find” to share. Really, too many to share, because I always, always, find great things in our Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, Ca location.
Anyway, because on one particular trip to this store, I needed to find some medical appliances for my Daughter, who was suddenly
struck down by an undiagnosed illiness. She could hardly walk and was “still is” in quite a lot of pain. She is still undiagnosed by supposely the best University Hospital in Sacramento. Anyway, I was hoping for a little cane or walker of some sort. I came out with, a walker (Brand new, still had tags on it) a brand new adjustable metal cane, and a get around wheelchair that worked just find. Also, for her, I found a beautiful picture frame that held the Serenity Prayer.
So, those of you out there that haven’t yet been shopping at this store,or their other stores, go and try it out. The music they play is from “my best years here in my home town, “the oldies mostly from the sixties” and that music alone keeps me in the store for hours, just wheeling my cart, looking for treasures and feeling at peace. Oh! and one more thing, when you really need something badly, there is always someone walking beside you, helping you to find it. Yes, God too, loves to shop here at Thrift Town also. (My personal opinion).
And even though, I am not one to like animal furs or skin on my personal wear, I think the Kazuyo Nakano purse was the best find
because of it’s condition and the monatary aspect for this treasure.
However, all things are relative to whomever finds something they love, so I think, everyone wins when they shop at Thrift Town.
My favorite find is definately the red purse, it’s BEAUTIFUL!! I would have bought that purse just to add to my wardrobe, but also finding out it’s real and high priced on the norm, is only a bonus!
LOVE THE DOG AND CAT DIY…START THEM YOUNG RECYCKE REUSE TOO CUTE
I found a camera in the junk pile at Good Will for $5. I love cameras, so we bought it. We got it home and put fresh batteries in it and it worked great! It was a Canon SX70 digital camera worth between $250 and $350. Bargain! I love me some thrift stores
[...] like having contests here at Thrift Town. Did you see last week’s blog post with our What a Find winners? It’s great to get entries for contests, but there are a lot of you out there who find great [...]
We love that our customers use shopping at our stores to teach their kids about recycling, but also, just being creative with things you like. Not having to spend a ton on arts & craffts supplies makes it so much easier for parents to create freely with their kids. Send us your creative thrifty projects, we’re always looking for customer’s submissions to feature! Send pics/stories to KariatThriftTown@gmail.com
Isn’t the purse a great find? The question is, once you find out that it’s so expensive, would you keep it, or sell it??
This is so touching, so sorry to hear of your little one’s struggles. We are happy to have a part in aleviating her pain in a small way. Thank you for sharing your story.
Hi Kari…..Yes, about the purse on keeping or selling, that would be such a hard decision! If I needed the money at the time of course that’s easy, but if I didn’t….Heck Ya..keep it
