Getting creative with Thrift Town treasures can be very rewarding. I bought this wrought iron, candle holder (made in Norway) for $2.99 at Thrift Town. It was pretty on its own, but I thought giving it the Shabby Chic treatment would be fun, as well as beautiful.
Shabby Chic Style: Famous author and Shabby Chic style-maker, Rachel Ashwell, finds beauty and function in common everyday objects found at thrift stores, garage sales and flea markets. Her philosophy is that with a little imagination and ingenuity, you can turn your trinkets from the past into treasures for today.
The end result- I have a candle holder that is beautiful as well as functional for a very small investment of under $20.00. I can simply sit the candle holder on the table or I can hang it for a more dramatic effect.
HOW TO: First I painted a layer of white paint on top of the black wrought iron. Next, I applied a coat of pretty pale aqua paint. Once dry, I sanded off the edges to expose the white paint and black wrought iron so they peeked through. Lastly, I strung (on fishing line) and attached crystal and glass beads.
