Here’s What Thrift Town customers have to say...

We love to hear what customers think of our stores. We thought you might too!

Carmichael, CA: Dear Thrift Town, Your Carmichael, CA location has to be, arguably speaking, the BEST Thrift Town on Earth! Like many of us, I started shopping for clothes in the Department Stores, spending notorious amounts of money just for clothes.
Every day, my route to school would pass by this Thrift Town, and being the curious mind, I decided to check this place out. How I wish I found about this place sooner - and to think of all the money I wasted at the Mall!

Going to this Thrift Town is like going home to your neighborhood - ie. each and every employee I have encountered is very friendly, outgoing, and willing to help - something uncommon in today's retail establishments run by profit margins.
Some of the employees, like Linda for instance, know my Mom by name - where can you find that today? I have been faithful in coming here almost every week like going to Church, every experience I have here is so random, so uncommon, so unpredictable - it has become somewhat addictive, yet refreshing at the same time!

Your pricing can't be beat. PERIOD. Nearby thrift stores such as Deseret Industries, Weave, Goodwill, etc. are really overpriced and do not have those special promotions, such as 50% off color days, 30% to 50% special day promotions that Thrift Town have. I am a VIP and enjoy the extra savings that surprise me in my e-mail box. I hope Thrift Town continues to be competitive. You simply cannot beat the deals from your place.

Your selection can't be beat. All the brands that my family loves to wear are available here, presented with great organization and cleanliness. It is incredibly interesting how styles from way back are making inroads today, and how you can follow the trends without having to break the bank. My brother's uniforms are available here as well and as fast that kids are growing, it doesn't make common sense to purchase new anyway.

Your electronic selection can't be beat. I used to review for electronics companies on the latest tech wares and I was surprised to find that some of the most recent innovations are sold here at a fraction of the price. I picked up a Flat Panel LCD HDTV, a 1 TB External Hard Drive, Bluetooth Speakerphone, and much more for unheard of prices.

Quite simply, its unbelievable what you can find here, that's why even though I have to make the trek from Natomas to shop there, it is well worth it. The deals that we find here are the subject of our family dinners and quite as such, my family has taken a liking to this Thrifting extravaganza.

Thank you so much Thrift Town, for making a change in not only how and where we spend our money, but enabling my family as well as myself, the very items that we could not previously afford to obtain, now affordable!

Sincerely, Derrick & Vicky H.

Sacramento 5-STARS! "I'm Impressed"By Jeff W. I shop at your store on El Camino Ave. quite often. You name it and I find it in your store, from my picnic table umbrella, tire chains, motorcycle helmet, jewelry, clothes, and I can go on, and on, and on. The store layout is great! Your employees (all of them) are awesome and have always been extremely helpful. Whatever I need, they know if you have it and where it is located in your store, or they direct me to someone who does know. The camaraderie and helpfulness of every one of your employees is an extremely rare quality among employees in any business I have ever frequented, but you guys have it. I will continue to shop in your establishment and encourage others to do so as well. Thank you so much for providing me with such a pleasant and fulfilling environment to do my shopping. I am impressed, and, trust me, I don't impress easily. Fantastic job. Thanks.

Salt Lake City Utah: We frequent your store often and live in the area. We have come to your store over the past MANY years to find clothes, shoes and other things to help raise our family! They are now 20,16 and 11, but we have been bringing the 16 and 11 year old in since they were in diapers to shop and we love all the fun things your store offers.

Yesterday we had to go to a wedding and my 11 year old didn't want to wear her sisters old black dress to a wedding! So we came in and she got exactly what she wanted for under 5$ in under 10 min. She also commented on your staff and how nice everybody there is! I agree! -Debbie

Corpus Christi, TX: For 11 years I've been hooked on Thrift Town in San Antonio, TX! I moved to Corpus Christi in 2007 and every time I visit my mom there I have to get a Thrift Town fix.  I'm a VIP & receive the e-mails with sales & coupons, and for one trip to San Antonio I left town early enough to get there in time to shop 2 hours during a sale!  My daughter has grown up and out of her wardrobe purchased there and I'm outgrowing my closets with all the deals I find! Please open a Thrift Town in Corpus Christi! - Kelly

Sacramento, CA: I was tagging along with my parents one day and I wasn't thrilled when they said they would be stopping at a thrift store but once I was in and started looking around I was hooked!  I love that the clothes are sorted by size and color. Me and my two daughters now enjoy shopping thrift town several times a month. I’m so excited about my great deals! -Christina

San Francisco: This is one of the best thrift stores I’ve ever been to. It is packed with interesting books, random art, a decent selection of $2.00 CD’s (I once found PJ Harvey’s Dry here), vinyl, ceramics, unused candles, and of course clothing. I purchased a pair of mint condition, never-worn authentic Fry cowboy boots here for $5.00 as well as a Nicole Miller pencil skirt and a flawless vintage Alexander McQueen cocktail dress. Don’t knock thrifting until you’ve tried it people. This place is a gold mine.

9/24/2008 : I love this place!  I can get a whole cart full of stuff for next to nothing and there are usually coupons in the mail that save me even more money. How can you beat that?  I usually go in there to buy props for photography or if I have an art project where I want to basically destroy and rebuild. The last time I was there, I bought an old bar stool for $3 and I have been using that as a photo prop.  If it's a chair that can fit in my mini cooper and is under $5, I am game! The people there are very friendly and helpful. I always walk out of there with clothing and trinkets that make me smile.

09/18/20: Here are the reasons that TT rocks over other thrifts: 1.  All items are color-coded -- every Monday, a different colored tag goes on sale to 50% off. Whatever the item is; clothing, furniture, jewelry, housewares, whatevah, if it has that week's color sale tag, it's 50% off. This means their merch MOVES. 2.  If you sign up as a "VIP" on their website, they send you a card that gets punched out every time you spend $100.00. When full, it entitles you to $10.00 off a purchase of $20.00 or more. 3.  They will email you coupons at least once a month. 4.  They have regular holiday sales and random sales. 5.  You can actually find vintage things here! In good to great condition! For cheap!!

08/12/2008: “This is my favorite thrift shop!  I always find at least something that I can consider my SCORE for the day. The clothes are clean and well organized. The whole store is clean, actually. The employees are pretty nice. There are a lot of fitting rooms so it's not a huge pain to try something on.  Love it.”

Albuquerque: Hi Thrift Town! I'm moving to Albuquerque in a couple of weeks and I just discovered your stores.  I'm a lifetime use/consignment store shopper and I'm very excited to furniture shop at Thrift Town!  It's so wonderful to discover such a "good values" -oriented establishment in this "Wal-Mart" dominated society.  Thanks for your contributions to society!

El Sobrante, CA: Hi my name is Julie and I live about 120 miles from my “Favorite Thrift Town Store” in El Sobrante Ca. I live in the Northern. California foothills and my Mom lives in El Sobrante Ca. For years I have come down to visit her at least once or twice a month and  the very first thing we do when I get down there to visit is unload my truck and head for Thrift Town. You cannot believe the great stuff I have bought there over the years. Furniture, clothing, Christmas ornaments, vacuums, linens, quilts, books, purses…. if I need it I will find it there! Even if I don’t need it I find it there! I have found so many “Treasures” over the years I can’t tell you about just one! As for my Mom, recently she purchased a mobile home up where I live and she has almost completely decorated it with Thrift Town items. From linens to furniture she has found it all at our favorite store, ……”Thrift Town the first class second hand store” I love singing that song!!! Thanks for all the great deals, Julie B

Albuquerque: I am overwhelmed to receive such response to my simple message of thanks and appreciation. It does renew my faith in corporate America where people within a company still support each other. That faith has languished in the past few years while I've watched the "Superstores" take over and drive out our local family owned stores that have been my friends for so many years. In today's world where rude and poor service has become not a welcome but certainly expected norm, I am compelled to comment on the exceptional pleasure of being treated with courtesy and friendliness. Kudos to all of you and I hope you will maintain a closely knit association. I know from my own working experience that it can make a big difference in loving or hating the job you go to every day. My closet is getting full now with all my wonderful finds at your store, but I have gift certificates burning a hole in my pocket and will continue to Shop till I Drop!! Keep up the good work - V. Franklin

Austin, TX: On March 3rd, you gave my mother Mrs. Esther J. Cook a little surprise birthday get-together at Thrift Town. I find it hard to put into words how much that thoughtfulness meant to her. Our family is very small now and I could not surpass what the friendship of each of you did for her that day. I know she will think of it for many years to come, as she tells anyone about the friends she has at Thrift Town. She likes going there for her bargains, as well as the nice-friendly people she has met. I wish to extend my thank you to each and all of you for making it such a special day for her. Sincerely yours, Marion F. L. (Daughter)

San Francisco, CA: I was visiting the Bay area this past weekend and went to your store on Mission St.  I have never been in such an awesome thrift store!!! Any chance you would open a store in the LA area?  I’m sure it would be a major hit. Just wanted to comment on all the great ideas you came up with for the 'used' section! Really creative! You could be the next Martha! Take care, Patti

Thrift Town: I shop at your thrift town shops regularly, I find your staff the best ever, always friendly, with a smile on their faces and always available to help you, even when they are busy which is everyday your open. I constantly tell my friends about your thrift stores, and recommend them constantly to everyone who will listen. I love your stores, shop so often that most of your staff remember me always with a hello and smile. Thank You Thrift Town for having the BEST of everything, would never shop anywhere else. Simply delighted, Loretta J. M. -May 2007 be the best year for you, your stores are No. 1!!

Austin: Hello There ! My friend & I had a day off from work last week and went into Thrift Town in South Austin. This was my first visit to your store. (My friend is a 'regular' there.) I have been to many thrift stores -  and I wanted tell you I was very impressed with your store. It was beautiful, clean, well organized, and well stocked. What a super store!! Prices were great! I spent $45.00 there and got some wonderful bargains. The best part of my experience there was the great folks who worked there. They were helpful and soooooo friendly. They seemed to truly be happy to be there and seemed like a 'real' team. So refreshing in this retail world we live in. I will definitely continue to shop there from now on. It is a little bit of a drive for me, as I live in Round Rock, but is worth it. Any plans of a store near my area any time in the future?? Thanks for listening - they're doing a great job there!! Your New customer, Sandra

San Francisco, CA: Dear Ms. Miller and Ms. Krivda, I live in San Francisco. I started buying items at your thrift store several years ago, and now before I buy anything, I check your store. Also, I have been donating my own surplus and items from two other family households..... which includes a lot of infant and children's items. The reason that I am writing you, is that if I were asked to recommend one San Francisco business to Mayor Newsome that typifies an extremely well-run, fun place to shop for just about anything, it would hands down be THRIFT TOWN  on Mission Street with the cheerful spirit and efficient management you both bring to the store. It is a win, win, win situation: The customer usually finds what she wants at a price almost everyone can afford, the charity you support thrives because of your work. The store is professionally and smoothly run, displays and items are neat, interesting, and easy to browse and your turnover (intake and outgo) seems positively enormous! I, for some reason, thought you were an independent store, but I understand that there are others, so I would appreciate it if you would forward this E-mail to your superiors.  p.s. I work  on Franklin Street and have to look really nice, so guess where I buy my clothes! Sincerely, Ed

Thrift Town:
I didn't know Thrift Town  had a web site until today! Also I didn't know you had so many  locations. I just wanted to thank Thrift Town for making my life affordable in one of the most unaffordable states in this country. When I changed jobs and could no longer wear jeans to work, Thrift Town provided me a new, quality wardrobe without the exorbitant price tag. I've also purchased items like pots and dishware. I love thrift shopping because it's fun to see what I can find since the stock is never exactly the same. I am actually planning to move to Tyler Texas which is close to the Dallas store location which I am glad  to know. Once again, thanks for making life so much more affordable. Stacy

Sacramento CA: Dear Jeff, I wanted to drop you a line to say how much I enjoy shopping at the Sacramento Thrift Town on El Camino. I "discovered" the store a year or two ago, and have been there quite a few times since. I have always been happy with my purchases, and I always seem to find SOMETHING, even on the occasions when I am just going for a bit of a recreational shop!  (My girlfriends are always jealous when I tell them that a fabulous new dress they've just complemented me on came from a thrift store!) Just a couple of weeks ago, I picked up a stunning bright red Liz Claiborne dress in my size for only $4. Needless to say, I was thrilled! I plan to wear it for Valentine's Day. Although I usually buy clothes, I also purchased a nice set of hot rollers at the store and, most recently, a coffee maker. I have never been disappointed with any of my purchases. I really appreciate the way the store is laid out and organized, and it is clean and well-lit. Of course, it goes without saying that the bargains are super. The bottom line is, I love this store, and just wanted to tell you so! Keep up the good work! Sincerely, Ingrid

Salt Lake City, UT: I just want to let you know what a fantastic store is in Salt Lake City.  I have shopped there for many years and have always been treated like a member of the family. The store is always neat, clean and very well organized, and is in much better shape than several retail stores I've been in recently. It is truly a pleasure to go there on my lunch hour (3-4 times a week) and see what exciting and adventurous things await me. I especially want to commend Kelly and Taylor for their expert way of running a store. Kelly is EXTREMELY talented with her displays, which are done better than most interior designers, and Taylor goes out of his way to say "Hello Afton" every time I go in. I might suggest getting photos of Kelly's displays, I think you'd be impressed. I have shopped at several thrift stores throughout the country, but I always compare them to "my thrift store", of which I am very proud. Sincerely, A Thrift Store Shopper All the Way! AFTON P.

San Antonio, TX: To whom it may concern : I usually don’t write or comment whether I like or dislike a product or store. I would like to say what a beautiful, clean, well organized place your thrift shop is. Most thrift shops resale shops are not as nice as yours. Your shop is clean! Your employees are always cheerful, pleasant, and helpful. It is a joy and a pleasure to shop here. Keep up the good work! Ill definitely keep coming! Have a great day! Thanks from a grateful custom
