Wool sweaters were not meant to be washed and dried...
Take advantage of another person’s laundry mishaps.

Felt happens when you wash and dry anything 80% wool or greater that is knitted or crocheted (like a sweater or an afghan) that’s not washable wool. Felt (technically speaking it’s called fulled fabric) is soft, spongy, thick and has a brushed appearance; you can cut it like fabric and it will not unravel. I picked up these ($4.99) shrunken-felted sweaters off the large and extra large racks of Thrift Town, cut them into patterns to fit the ($1.99) pillows, stitched them up, and added dressmakers details like a ruffle, grosgrain ribbon and the fabric covered button. These sweater pillows are extraordinarily warm and snuggly like your favorite blanket. They’re a  great decorating addition to any room for fall or winter and they won’t break the bank.

Other Ideas: I was tempted to make a hot water bottle cover with the gray sweater; I also thought of making a fun purse tote. The leftover sweater arms made a great pair of leg warmers. The possibilities are endless

Felt sweaters are great to wear too! Shop on the racks a size or two larger than you normally wear and look for a wool sweater that has been washed and shrunk. I usually wear a small or a medium;  so this large size sweater looks great with a skinny belt. This belted, layered look is very hot this fall.
