PUT IT IN NEUTRAL: chic thrifting haul
MOMMYHOOD EMBELLISHED.
When I had a baby, I knew I’d need different wardrobe but I thought that was just due to a shift in size. Turns out there are quite a few functionality shifts to be accommodated as well, so I hit up Thrift Town to fill in the gaps. For some reason, this trip yielded a bunch of wonderful neutrals, proving you don’t have to wear loud colors to make a statement.
CUT-OUT CAMEOS: Having a tiny baby affects every aspect of my daily life, including what I now can and can’t wear. On the can / need-to list: pieces that are comfortable but still cute. On the can’t list: necklaces. Holding a little one, necklaces stand the chance of getting broken, or entangling/hurting the baby.
SO: comfy pieces that flatter, and have visual interest sans-jewelry, while still being baby-friendly and camouflaging the post-baby tummy. Love the stretch + flowy + structured elements.
[grey + lace dress: $7.99] [grey + black cut-out dress: $5.99]
FLAT-OUT FAB: For now, motherhood = not wearing heels every day like I used to when I ran a business. But I still want to look polished and girly, without being overly flashy just out & about pushing a stroller. Chic flats to the rescue!
[perfect shimmer gold flats: $4.99]
THE SHORT LIST: I needed new shorts. Not for functionality purposes like the embellished tops… lets just say, my caboose has seen smaller days. So instead of the teenage staple of distressed cutoffs, I aimed for a polished grown up cuffed look in a denim and a stretch cotton “trouser short”, both with slit pockets.
[perfectly grown-up shorts: $4.99 each]
I have been wanting a pair of these bootie-wedges for quite awhile but couldn’t stomach the $50-$75 pricetag I’d seen in local boutiques. SO stoked to see this pair on the rack at Thrift Town! Great for looking a bit more stylish without the teetering of tall heels while carrying a tiny human around.
And sleek dark-wash trouser jeans are flattering on almost any body type, but especially a post baby one.
[trouser jeans: $5.99] [booties: $3.99]
SHEER MAGIC: Sheer is just so delicate. Feeling somewhat less than delicate post-baby, pieces like these are great with a strappy cami underneath and paired with the dark wash trouser jean.
[jersey + sheer top: $2.99] [yellow & tan sheer top: $2.99]
SHIMMER SHOULDERS: This may be my favorite piece of the whole shopping trip. Breathable sweater with awesome shoulder embellishments leaves the center free and clear for baby holding. The back neckline is a deep scoop-neck, and the hemline in back is a bit longer than the front.
[shimmer shoulders sweater: $7.99]
I paired this with the dark trouser shorts and gold flats for a super comfy pulled-together look.
All in all, a very successful and frugal trip to Thrift Town - I’m excited
to mix and match all of these wonderful neutrals in the months to come!

This was a great article! I find that with every trip I make, it ends up one of two ways: I always get items in the same color scheme or lots of different patterns. I love it!
