NESTING 101

WASH, CONTAIN, CUTE-IFY.

I am in the final month before my little one arrives, and boy am I ready to not be pregnant anymore! The overwhelming excitement mixed with the terrifying unknown might just swallow me whole if it weren’t for one big thing: NESTING.

Nesting is a somewhat compulsive drive to clean, plan, decorate, organize, cute-ify and prep your living space for the little one to come. For the preggo hormonal woman trying not to panic and obsess over all that is out of her control, nesting can be a calming and gratifying process.

For me, nesting is in hyperdrive, but I didnt miraculously triple my bank account to accommodate my every home improvement and adorable baby item whim. So: I thrift. Almost everything.

I recieved this container with a baby gift inside and it’s perfect for storing & displaying snuggly baby gear.

So what is all this? Receiving blankets & swaddlers (can you tell I’m having a girl?).

Finding cute essentials for sometimes under a dollar is how to do it! I just cruise through the baby section every time
I’m in Thrift Town and have amassed quite the impressive and adorable collection of blankies for my little sweetie.

As I sort and organize my growing amount of baby items, I made a trip to Thrift Town
exclusively for cute creative containers. For my baby shower, it seemed that almost every
gift had a set of pacifiers attached. Nursery colors of grey/silver and white with touches of
peach - this pretty cookie canister is PERFECT for my pile-o-pacifiers.
(and it was only $0.49!)

My grandmother made me an adorable set of burp-cloths from cloth diapers with cute
fabric & ribbon sewed on each one. I found this basket in PERFECT condition at Thrift
Town for $3.99 and it fit my collection to a T.

(And yes, I’m aware that this may be the only time I’m over the moon
about washing, folding and putting away baby laundry. I’m embracing it.)

As the final countdown to motherhood ticks away, I’m relishing my freedom in frequent Thrift Town trips, a quiet house and finding joy in the mundane of organizing my house for little one. Rest assured though, once she’s here, there will be PLENTY to share with you all on how secondhand saved my penny-pinching new-mommy craziness. :)
