BACK TO SCHOOL ALREADY??
I can’t believe it’s really SCHOOL time again? I could have sworn we were just getting into the summertime groove! The weather, the water, the barbecues… aaaw man! Well, here’s the thing – if school time has to come around again, the good news is, back to school means SHOPPING.
I know shopping for little ones isn’t always joy of joys, but at least we can help you out on the hit to your wallet. It really is possible to have your kids look great for way less than what you’d pay at a department store!
In addition to clothes shopping, you need supplies and ways to keep them organized. Here’s some of our ideas for back to school awesomeness. (Also make sure to check out our thrifty Back to School Pinterest board!)
ELEMENTARY, DEAR THRIFTER.
First day of school outfits for the elementary little people: The elements are simple:
BOYS
- a cool lightweight comfy collared shirt
- some bright shorts
- cool tennies
- colorful backpack
- colorful top
- cute patterned shorts
- printed backpack
- strappy sandals
To celebrate the new school year, here’s a great idea for showing off that new grade. Grab a frame from our housewares, paint it if you’d like, and cut out paper letters and designs for around the edge. Now have your kid ham it up for that perfect montage of pics in their first day of school outfit.
CIRCUS FOOD.
Send your kids back to class with a smile and healthy options. Cookie cutters are always easy to find at Thrift Town and make just about anything more fun to eat. Add in some silicon cupcake molds and TA-DA! (can someone make my lunches cute like this??)
LEARNING FOR LITTLES.
Working hard in class is one thing but for little ones just starting out with homework for the first time (as well as older kids) it’s important to have a space at home dedicated to focusing on work. But it doesn’t have to be all serious - get a thrifted wooden table & chair (don’t have to be a set) and paint them fun colors. Use letter stickers or a stencil & paint to personalize their space so they feel like a big kid in their special chair.
Here’s to Back To School shopping that isn’t totally stressful, is actually a bit fun (yes, really!), and doesn’t break the bank. Enjoy those last moments of summertime!
