I think it’s now safe to say we survived the
end of the world, AND Christmas.

Now to say goodbye to 2012 in style and HELLOOOO 2013! (well we hope you actually enjoyed Christmas, and didn’t just survive it)

Just because you made it through doesn’t mean your wallet’s thrilled with you at the moment. And then there’s New Year’s Eve: where it’s all about looking luxe. There’s that party, you’ve got nothing to wear, and you just spent more than you should have making sure everyone had a great Christmas. No fear, we’re here to help:

6 Simple NYE fixes for under $20.

#1.Little black dress just saved you.
If you’ve already got a little black dress that fits you well, move on to the next item (and congrats!).
If not, we can help.

Head to Thrift Town: women’s -> dresses -> your size -> black dresses. TA DA. Now grab the 3 or 4 that look promising and go try them on! I’m willing to bet you can find something simple that works.

#2. Accessorize the crap out of a simple look.
This black dress is perfect. Clean lines, great cut, but nothing “fancy” about it. I got it at Thrift Town a few years ago for under $10, and it will never go out of style. To spruce up an otherwise plain-Jane look, I layered a BUNCH of necklaces.

One was a gift, one I made myself, two were from Thrift Town. Whether it’s necklaces, a handful of bangles, huge statement earrings or a jeweled fascinator in your hair: allow your jewelry to shine, and your simple dress be simple.

#3. Lush Lip

Looking luxe is about creating focal points and choosing simple bold strokes. Keep the rest of your makeup minimal and add a colorful lip to make it all just a bit more glam. (And make sure you have a friend on lipstick duty to tell you if your teeth need a little attention!)

#4. LEGGY LUCK.

I found these striking black buckled heels for $4.99 at Thrift Town. At that price, you can afford to get yourself a pair of cute heels to go with your NYE look. With the stores being so organized, I was able to quickly hone in on shoes that might work - cutting time & cost.

#5. PATTERNED PRAISES.

So your dress is simple. And so are your shoes. Who says your LEGS can’t get all the attention for one night? I happen to be a patterned tights fanatic, and honestly, I get more comments on a great pair of polka dotted or plaid tights than I do an exceptional dress. Why? Because it’s unexpected.

Being fashion-forward & standing out at a party doesn’t mean you have to spend the most or have the flashiest dress. Be unique! ** helpful hint: If you’re going to go a bit out there on legwear, you MUST keep everything else streamlined & simple, or you run the risk of looking cluttered.

#6. GLAM: IN THE BAG.

Throw in that unexpected pop of color with a vibrant clutch. Every Thrift Town has a purse/bag/clutch section and I’m always delighted by the gems I find. If not bold, look for a great vintage piece (conversation starter) and be prepared to tell others where you got it, cause they’ll be asking! Now you’re fashionable AND smart.

Hope you all have a fun and safe New Year - see you on the other side!!
