CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE?
It’s JUNE, and I’ve already been to two weddings - welcome to the season of love and matrimony! For many, attending or throwing a wedding means spending a lot to make the day special. For the budget conscious bride (which these days, I think most are…), or thoughtful guests, we have a couple ideas to keep costs down while still keeping the style high.
. . . .
BE OUR GUEST. Want an inexpensive but thoughtful gift for a deserving bride & groom? Try a romantic picnic kit! Thrift Town has what you need: a big picnic basket, a blanket, a couple plates, silverware, champagne flutes, cloth napkins and maybe a couple books to read together. Grab a bottle of bubbly at the store, or even a gift card to a local supermarket for the couple to create their own meal. You can do it for around $30, and that’s a memorable gift to create a memorable time.

HERE COMES THE BRIDE. A custom wedding dress doesn’t have to be half your wedding budget. Similar to the large amount of baby clothes we receive in great condition or new - wedding dresses are only worn for one day (albeit a very important one).

We get a lot of wedding dresses in stock, and usually right about this time of year, the wedding dress displays start popping up in our stores. Our prices are really reasonable, and if you find your perfect dress with the right color tag, you can get the dress for your big day for an absolute steal!
For the vintage-loving bride, Thrift Town has a plethora of vintage dresses. You can find a dress with attributes you like, and with the money you’re saving not buying an expensive new dress, you can alter it to your heart’s delight. Now you have a one of a kind custom dress to feel gorgeous in on your special day!
. . . . .
RENTAL RAGE. There are usually a lot of items for a wedding that you don’t personally own, that must be rented, and all the rentals (plus everything else!) can really add up. Sometimes, it’s cheaper (and adds visual character) to buy certain items thrifted instead of renting. Then you have them for any other event in the future. A couple ideas for non-rentals: glass vases for centerpieces or accent color tablecloths for the gift table/head table.

For centerpieces, pick varying sizes or colors of glassware and group with candles and flowers as pictured above. You get a warm beautiful glow on each table for a fraction of renting fancy centerpieces or glassware.

ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID. One summer, I was a bridesmaid in three different weddings, and let me tell you, after the bridal showers, bachelorette parties, gas to drive there, gifts… oh yeah, the bride picks out a $200 dress. GREAT. When I got married, I wanted to make it as easy and inexpensive for my bridesmaids as possible.

Everyone got a color swatch, and they all found a dress in a similar color (many of them thrifted) in whatever fit, cut and price range worked for them. I’m happy to say, this has actually become quite a trend for bridesmaids dresses. In addition to price and availability, it brings out the individuality of the girls you choose to stand up for you on your big day.

My best friend is getting married in a few weeks, so your article really hit home for me. In fact, I just finished buying 42 cups and saucers, accessories, and decor, for my friend’s bridal shower tea party. I did all the shopping at Thrift Town and couldn’t be happier with the results. As you said, weddings are expensive and all those little things add up. So, being able to thrift as much as possible is a real lifesaver.
