THRIFTED SUIT-UP: toddler water fashion
ITSY BITSY TEENY WEENIE TODDLER IN A THRIFTED SWIMSUIT.
Hellooooooo summertime! California has graced us with a couple 100+
degree days and with a restless toddler, you gotta get OUT and in the water.
My Olive is almost 2 (what?!) and last summer was the first official pool experience. It was
thrifted and chic of course. I swear she’s way cooler than me. Rollypoly in a cutout thrifted
suit, handmade (thrifted material) headwrap + shades.
I found this suit a few months ago and couldn’t WAIT for the heat. $2.99 at Thrift Town.
Kiddie pools are the best. I also am aware that my days are probably numbered that
she’ll love and want to wear the cute little headwraps I make her. Soaking it in now.
THIS one. So chic. Like, resort toddler. When adorable bathing suits cost under
$5, and you’re out in the water multiple days a week, why not have a few or 5?
My governing thrift mantra for her has proven itself on the bathing suit front:
“She will be that size eventually.”
When I see something adorable for her at a great price, even if it’ll be a few years, I snatch
it up and put it in the big plastic tub in the garage with that age marked on it. Then every
new age it’s like Christmas rediscovering all the cute clothes I’ve found.
I just found this suit 2 days ago, and bestillmyheart. Doesn’t get much cuter.
The “headwrap” is literally a pair of pink tights she’s outgrown. I tied the toes behind
her head and twisted the waistband to make a flower on the front. Easy peasy.
Literally the ONLY pic I could get of her standing still in this. haha
Gotta love a busy toddler.
Swimming at Grandma’s means handmade smoothies WHILE you swim. My goodness.
Don’t forget the accessories - floaties, lil sunglasses and cute simple jewelry…
I found the necklace and took my handy jewelry pliers and made it toddler-length.
She feels “so fancy” and it’s small enough that it isn’t fussy.
Tiny bathing beauties need their own special towels. $1.99
This suit stays in our car. In case we’re out and someone invites us over for a swim. Not
kidding - it totally happens! We have a little beach bag with sunscreen, towel, suit and
glasses. Just in case.
Do you have a thrifted little one? Show them off!
