CAMP-TOWN RACES SING YOUR SONG…
You just sang “doo-dah”, didn’t you? One of the BEST parts of summer (in my opinion) is going camping! Whether it’s up in the mountains, on a lake, or sand dunes, there’s something magical about getting away from it all and out in nature with people you care about.
The thing about camping is you have to bring EVERYTHING with you. Unless you’ve got a special deal with someone at REI, building up a stock of camping items can be an arm and a leg, but as usual - we’re here to help you out. Like any of the merchandise we stock at our Thrift Town stores, camping gear comes to us, and we’re able to offer it to you for pennies on the dollar of what you’d be spending at a department store for it new. And personally, I don’t need sparkly expensive brand new pots to cook my chili in, out in the middle of the forest.
So here’s just a couple ideas of items you can look for at Thrift Town to make your camping experiences this summer a bit easier on the wallet.
The nuts & bolts of eating outdoors - sturdy cookware & dishes. Look for a big plastic tub to store everything, and other organizational helps like silverware dividers. Add in dish towels, a bucket or two for doing dishes and all you need are volunteers for cleanup.

A breezy summer bag, some flip flops for the family, beach towels, a hat, a novel and some cool shades & you’re set to spend your lazy camping afternoon lakeside.

I know I spend a lot of the camping time eating, but the rest of the time - sleeping, camp fire-ing, and exploring: we’ve got you covered. Stock up on warm blankets for around the fire, camping chairs and the all-important tent. You’d be surprised how much camping gear you will find when you go into Thrift Town looking for it.

Obviously, not EVERY Thrift Town store will have all of the items we’ve discussed here on any given day. But that’s why we do posts like this - to get your interest up and your awareness out there. If you’re leaving in a week for a big camping trip, it will probably be difficult to find everything you need at one Thrift Town. But if you’ve got more time, start the process now - Look for and purchase a few pieces at a time, so when a camping trip arises, you’re all set!
