I needed a cheap seat....

So of course I picked one up at Thrift Town. I found this nicely shaped, antique, wood chair for only $4.99. It was perfect- except for the huge hole in the seat! Even a cushion on top couldn’t keep a person from falling through the growing hole! I needed to fix it or buy a chair with a real seat.

I got brave and ordered one two-pound roll of  rush ($5.50) and an easy-to-read poster/instructions on how to weave a rush seat ($1.00). Supplies were ordered at: www.franksupply.com Phone: (714) 847-0707. Frank was very nice and willing to answer my first-timer/newbie questions.

My first attempt at rushing took about two hours and it was not perfect, like a store-bought chair. But I think it looks pretty darn good- and the seat is very sturdy. I’m proud for trying something new. It is amazing what you can do to rescue a thrift store find... and how rewarding it can feel
