How to make this frame: This picture frame was made out of an old window! The entire project took under an hour and it has been a fun and unexpected way to display my Hawaiian photo collection.
I tacked grass mat on the back of the window with quilting tacks. Grass mat can be purchased in the form of window treatments, place mats, beach mats. Quilting tacks were purchased at the fabric store. The collection of 8x10 black & white photos were mounted on top of the glass panes with standard photo corners used for scrap books. I wired the picture frame, for hanging, with heavy gauge wire which can be purchased at any hardware store.
Thrift Town has lots of art and picture frames that could be creatively matted with grass mat or other fun fabrics that make great backgrounds for both photos and art.
Happy Creating! Ashley
