2009 Best Dressed at the Prom Contest Winners Announced!

We have to start out by saying THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
to all the wonderful customers who entered this contest.

From glittering pink, to elegant gold and sophisticated black... the dresses were all gorgeous!  Our prom winners were savvy, smart, and very fashionable for their special evening.  We even had a sparkling, twirling princess attend a daddy-daughter dance and a dashing, daring Phantom of the Opera make a grand entrance at his Black & White Prom!

“I found my Zum Zum dress by Niki Livas for $5.99 at Thrift Town’s half price sale. It reminded me of a movie star dress with the glittering beads in front and the flowing fabric in the back. Many of my friends paid over $100 just for their dresses. I smile when I think of how I paid less than $10 for my entire outfit that night. Thank you Thrift Town for making me feel like a star on my special night!”

2nd Place Prize:
NEW iPod touch & $100 Thrift Town Gift Card!

Ever imagined yourself in an amazing dress and cute shoes, just like in fairy tales but so affordable?  That’s exactly what the dress and shoes mean to me... gorgeous and affordable; the dress was going to make me feel like the prettiest of all. This dress is going to have a story behind it, I can already tell.

After I’m done wearing this dress, I plan on donating it to our local Prom dress organization for someone else to share their special moment as I will. I believe in donating and the joy of sharing clothes with others.”

3rd Place Prize -3 Way Tie:
NEW Digital Camera & $100 Thrift Town Gift Card!

A Zebra?  No, not elegant enough.  A wedding tux?  Hm, too overused.  How about The Phantom of the Opera? Bingo!  Realizing it was my senior year and final chance to do something outrageously crazy at a prom, I sought a look that differed from the traditional "penguin" tux.  Months before a friend of mine donated me a black tux jacket with pants. I decided to dress up like the Phantom because no one else would expect such a mysterious, elegant, helpless romantic. After the free clothes from my friend, I went to the local Thrift Town and stumbled upon a white tux shirt for $2. To polish the costume, I found the mask and gloves at a theater/drama store, costing about $6 total. My mom sewed the black and white cape and stitched together the golden brocade vest to add a colorful trim to the attire.  I spent less than $25 on my entire outfit.

Thrift Town’s Magic Wand

“I have a Fairy Godmother, and her name is “Thrift Town”! Many girls miss their prom night because formals are too expensive. Like Cinderella, we all dream of beautiful evening gowns and enchanted evenings. Thrift Town’s magic wand made my starry, prom night possible… with the income from just one babysitting job!”

“My mom shops at Thrift Town a lot.  She got my dress for half price.  It was only $1.50!  Thank  you Thrift Town!”

“The reason I chose that dress is because I like the color violet, and our dance was a princess theme, and it looked like a princess dress.  The sparkles on my dress lighted up when I twirled. I felt like a princess.”
