HOW TO MAKE A CUTE DRESS FROM A THRIFTED SKIRT

Few things make me happier than taking something that wasn’t being useful or enjoyed
and finding a way to make it awesome and exciting. Sometimes I find something while
thrifting, and then am just not feeling it when I get home. This particular transformation
ended up even better than I thought in my head when I started — take a look!

Here’s the starting piece: $2.99 thrifted skirt with a stretchy top.
I literally never wore it. I liked it when I bought it, but then it just
sat in my closet. Eventually, it made it’s way to my tub of fabric to be
made into something else. It is such a pretty pattern!

Here’s what I turned it into: a beautiful flowy boho dress for my little miss
Olive. I kept the top of the skirt the same, planned on that part sitting down
on her shoulders a bit. Then I just measured her arm length and width, and
cut those out of the sides of the skirt, cutting off the remaining length on the
sleeves. Then I held it up on Olive and decided the length, and CHOP! Then
just sew around the open cuts and TADA!

Here’s the final look! Headband made from thrifted curtains, tiny gladiator sandals: $2.99
I love how the dress flows, and how just by cutting out the sleeves, it made a great uneven
edge to the dress. I could just eat her up in this!

We have so much fun together. And her headbands
come off faster and faster these days. haha

She cracks herself up - no other entertainment needed! All of our
outfits are fully thrifted (even though you totally can’t see them here).

The toddler blur. Coming or going, at least she makes a lot of
noise, so you can either brace for impact or start chasing her.

boho-02Thrifted, handmade, upcycled, whatever it is, it just has to be comfortable,
so the little hurricanes can express themselves. I think she’s got that one down.

Have a great week! Kari (& Olive)
