TINY HOUSE, TINY PRICE, BIG FUN

Staying Indoors: hello Tiny House!

We’ve had a little bit of wet weather here in California (HOORAY!!) and with a
busy busy toddler at home, staying indoors can get a little crazy sometimes. It
helps being able to have a wide range of toys that I can bring out for “special
occasions” (aka mommy needs you to chill and not break something for 10
whole minutes please!), but when $30 is a pretty median price for run of the
mill toys at a toy store, that can be a bit limiting.

I recently found a “Little People” doll house while thrifting, and for $3.99, I wasn’t
expecting it to have anything but the basic shell of a dollhouse, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Turns out, there are little buttons all over this little house that make noises:
telephone and doorbell ring, bathtub makes bubbly noises, washing machine whirs and buzzes, etc. So fun!

It opens up to be able to have the little people move around between rooms, then closes
back up for storage. The doll house was sold by itself, but thrifting is the perfect place to
score Little People! Every time I go to Thrift Town now, I look for people that can go in
our little house. We have quite the eclectic crew that lives there now.

These two were the first Little People brand people we found…

When I looked it up online, the current version of “Little People’s Surprise and Sounds Home” is $27.99 at Target. Obviously I only got the house (and all it’s fun sounds) but for a $24 difference, and around $0.49/person I’ve found thrifting, it’ll be a FULL HOUSE before I catch up to the regular retail price!

These 3 are the perfect size, just aren’t the specific Little People’s brand.

Since then, we’ve added quite a few lil guys from our many Thrift Town trips.
Knights, police officers and mechanics can totally be roommates.

With my daughter getting more and more into chores and how our real house
runs, it’s so fun to watch her play and interact with her little house. I’m always
excited for thrifted finds like this to add to the playtime fun and imagination at home.
