DIY BACKYARD PLAY TENT

PARTY OUTDOORS FOR LESS

Thrifty friends are fun to have. Not only do they also love a good thrifty find and have awesome Pinterest boards, they implement affordably fun ideas that you can totally steal and rock at your own house!

One of my best friends is so dang thrifty-rad and recently posted about a little play tent she made her son Spencer (one of my daughter Olive’s favorite people ever), and I immediately messaged her for details to share with all of you. It is SO EASY TO DO.

She found this spool of ribbon while out thrifting for $0.99 and decided to use it instead
of rope (which also works just fine) to add just a splash more whimsy to the project.

All you really need are 2 trees or stable structures to attach the ribbon to. Since the tent isn’t very heavy, the structures don’t even have to be super big and strong. I’m mentally assessing my yard right now to figure out where I can make my own!

A thrifted blue sheet is simply draped over the ribbon and secured to the ground with (thrifted) tent stakes. DONE. You can go as minimal or over the top with it as you want: bigger sheet, bigger tent! Fill it with thrifted blankets & pillows for a fun outdoor reading nook or fort.

As I mentioned, my friend Jenie is a thrifting QUEEN, and this whole table & chairs set was thrifted too! She brings sunshine to everything she touches, and straight up spray-painted happiness into her yard on this table/chairs set.

Same with the little ceramic birds (previously white & from the Dollar Store!) and the happy little banners came from the dollar bin section of a department store. Happy, thrifty backyard fun for the whole family for SO MUCH LESS.

Here’s our happy Spencer hanging in his new tent. Summer adventure awaits!
