Dress for Success on a Budget!
I had the privilege of recently hosting the Dress for Success on a Budget event put on by the Mommies Hiring Mommies professional group. As Mother’s Day just passed, I thought it was appropriate to write about the event seeing that all of the attendees were mommas!
The leader of the event, Ashley Meyer, is a dotting mother of 2 adorable baby boys. She’s not only a hard working mother, she also runs her own law company and this professional group! Talk about a Boss Lady.
I thought to myself, ‘now wouldn’t it be awesome to take Ashley to Thrift Town and find her an entire spring look book that she could wear to work and out?!’ My budget was $100 and boy did we score. Ashley was a first time thrifter and was absolutely blown away by how clean, organized, and easy it was to find clothes and accessories at Thrift Town. Not to mention, the incredible designer labels, too!
Here’s a tid bit of our shopping trip at the store. All of the dresses are perfect for day and night and each was under $12.99.
On the day of the event we had an excellent turn out of moms. I brought my Dress Fiend Thrift Tips sheet and clothing rack full of items purchased for Ashley from Thrift Town. Aren’t these some amazing finds?!
Not only did we find dresses for her, we also found tops, pants, skirts, jewelry and shoes! I had an absolute blast sharing all of my thrifting tips with these lovely ladies. Everyone seemed quite eager to get out there and start thrifting! And as a thrift lover, that made me super happy.
They were blown away by the pieces that we found and the fact that you can go to thrifttown.com, sign up to become a VIP and get coupons and up to date knowledge of all the big sales. I think a lot of the moms were really excited that Thrift Town had kids clothes, too. Not only are kids clothes new expensive, but they grow out of them so fast! At Thrift Town you can get numerous kids looks for under $5. Amazing right?
Again, it was a pleasure sharing my passion for the thrifted fashion with the moms. Ashley looked beautiful in her red wrap dress and nearly new Ninewest pumps from the El Camino store. I’m telling you a $100 will go a LONG way at Thrift Town and don’t forget to visit the shoes and accessories section at the store. The accessories never disappoint and it’s the best way to continue transforming your clothes into new looks!
I have one BIG thrifty tip for all of you bargain hunters out there:
Behind the counter at Thrift Town you will find some of the higher end designer items. And every once in a while a diamond in the ruff shows up to blow your mind away. When Ashley and I went shopping I took a look and before me stood not one, but two pairs of designer shoes! One pair were Jimmy Choo gold strappy heels & another were these stunning, perfect for spring, Dolce and Gabanna heels! I almost fainted, especially at the $24.99 price. So make sure to take a look behind the counter next time you are at Thrift Town because your next pair of designer heels might just be waiting there for you to obsess on!
Happy thrifting everyone and have a wonderful weekend. Tomorrow is my Birthday and I think I’ll just celebrate by doing a little bit of thrift shopping at Thrift Town 🙂
Love,
Phoebe
