ANCHORS AWAY: playtime romp
The weather is SO nice lately! After our crazy drought here in California we had a
bunch of awesome rain, and now things seem on track for a wonderfully Spring-y
Spring. This calls for lots of outside time, and finding new parks to keep little ones
on their toes and adequately entertained. I’m of the belief that you (AND your kids)
don’t have to look scroungy to play outside, that there are plenty of clothes that look
cute but can handle a little rough and tumble. And when you’re thrifting both your
wardrobes, IF your clothes do bite the dust, it’s less than $5 a piece so you don’t have
to cry over ripped clothes.
We found an awesome new park and played til we dropped.
It was great to find these new-with-tags Carters overalls for
$2.99, and IN THE LITTLE BOYS SECTION at Thrift Town.
Girls can rock little anchors too! We used it as a neutral base,
and added tan accessories to keep it soft.
As for me, my wet hair up in a super-fast braided wraparound crown,
I threw on this comfy knee-length grey teeshirt dress I found for
$4.99 a week ago, and was ready to runrunrunrun after my busybee.
I bought these braided bronze sandals YEARS ago at Thrift Town and they
continue to be my simple go-to for just about any sunny occasion. Super
comfy and just a little bit of personality and detail, but still basic enough
to go with everything. Hello mom-on-the-go.
Her ruffled sleeved babydoll top is the perfect girly contrast to the black anchor
overalls, with a braided leather headband of mine wrapped for her bracelet, and
handmade headband. I crocheted the grey bow, and simply attach it to whatever
headpiece is fitting, in this case, a simple stretchy black headband.
As per usual, our outfits generally go together (same color family, braided details
and girly-casual), but we’re not disgustingly matchy-matchy. I think of it as one
big coordinated look, just split between two of us. Any way you slice it, we paid
WAY less than we would have shopping anything but thrift, and still got a ton of
compliments. MAN I love Thrift Town!
Do you and your little one rock thrifted looks??
