HOW TO: coordinate looks without being too matchy
I love adventuring with my daughter. Sometimes it’s nothing more
than realizing we’d been cooped up feeling sick for a week and stopping
to run through a field across from the bank.
In general, my outfits are thought out and well-coordinated, and since having a
little dolly of my very own (who does need to be dressed), I basically treat her as
an extension of myself and just keep coordinating our look til we’re ready to walk
out the door. I try to avoid being too “matchy”, and we don’t wear the same shirt etc,
but focus more on our color families meshing.
We were just running errands, so nothing fancy. Cozy but not bundled (this is
California after all!) The headband is my favorite part: it was the “sash” on a
dress that I got at Thrift Town for $2.99, and decided I liked the dress better
without it. Add a little black elastic and ya got yourself a delicate floral
embroidered accessory.
OUTFIT BREAKDOWN:
— cozy brown bear hoodie: $$2.99
— white eyelet babydoll top: $0.99
— denim leggings: $1.49
And her little Airwalk boots all wet in the fresh rain: $1.99.
MY boots are now a beloved staple in my wardrobe. At $5.99, I wear them a lot, and feel like they add a little funk and sass to whatever look I’m rockin.
My look that coordinated with Olive: new favorite chambray polka-dotted shirt,
faded black denim jeans, THE boots, and this rad necklace.
We both have brown, white, black and blue, but mixed up via
different pieces, patterns and textures. Trust me, it’s easy!
Rustic and unexpected, this necklace only set me back $3.99.
Giant bag to carry all my things + toys, sippy cups, snacks for all and a
favorite little friend to keep her company - at $5.99, this all-purpose bag
beats the heck out of clunky diaper bags. Sunglasses: $2.99
We hope wherever you are, you take some time for adventure this week,
and find some cute looks at Thrift Town along the way.
Happy Thrifting! XO Kari & Olive
