THRIFTED GIFTS FOR LITTLES

Posted on by Kari      No Comments

When you think of Christmastime and childhood, most people talk about Santa and wanting LOTS of toys. Well, what if real life means you as a parent don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on your littles but you still want them to have lots of fun things to open and enjoy? Thrifted Gifting is especially fun and easy when shopping for the tiny people in your life.

I had the pleasure of shopping for a TV segment on channel 40 here in Sacramento to
show off just how great thriftgifting with Thrift Town can be — here’s the link to the clip!

Merry Little Thriftmas Segment

These segments always go SO fast and having a toddler who is just OVER IT doesn’t
exactly help. #thestruggle Since it went by quick, I wanted to show you a bit of the
breakdown of the rad finds I had for the segment and some of the insane prices:

[ connector blocks set: $2.99]
These came in a big bag with way more than what I used here. It was a
fun mini-project to build something with my daughter for the show.

[vintage wooden bead set: $3.99]
I had a set or 2 of these as a kid and LOVED them. I was so
stoked to find vintage sentimental toys to pass along to the
next generation and they looked like they’d never been used.

[giant pony purse: $1.49]
The picture doesn’t do the size justice — when “standing up”, this pretty
pony comes up past my knees. It has a zipper along the top and your
little one can fill it with treasures to take to grandma’s house. A STEAL
for $1.49. Watching your child lug around a bright pink pony bigger
than her with a giant smile yelling “nay! nay! nay!”: PRICELESS.

[like-new Tickle Me Elmo: $3.99]
Do you remember the year that this was THE toy to have and parents went
savage on each other in stores to buy it? Elmo is still a super popular
character, and most kids would LOVE to have this… *My daughter* was
terrified and looked at me sobbing like I’d intentionally tried to scare her
to death. But ya know, most kids. And I’m only out $4 for not
knowing she’s a big scaredy cat.

[big set of play dishes in like-new condition: $2.99]
I love toys that you can engage WITH your kids - have a nice little
pretend meal together, practice sipping tea, and saying please and
thank you. And I’ll have my tea time for under $3, please and thank you.

[3 wooden puzzles: $2.99 ea]
Nice wooden puzzles are hard to find and VERY expensive. I almost couldn’t
believe all 3 of these were together and under $3. So many ways this is great:
dexterity, matching shapes, animals, numbers, colors…WIN.

[Jake & the Neverland Pirates bowling set: $2.99]
I love finding name-brand/current notable character toys for cheap! My
nephew is all about Jake and his Pirates, and this will be so fun to play with him!

[Dress-Up Box components: $0.69 - $1.99]
This is an ever-growing entity in our house, and a blast to play with together
or when a little friend comes over. Any time we’re at Thrift Town we go through
the hats, jewelry and holiday sections to add to our box. And it can totally be
done for boys and girls alike - we’ve been on the lookout for little smocks,
doctor’s coats, a chef’s hat and a stethescope. 🙂

[Winnie the Pooh wooden blocks set: $0.99]
This is just one of the 3 sets of awesome wooden blocks I got in a big
bag for $2.99, and like so many other items I found, it’s a toy that grows
with your child, and has many facets. Colors, building, letters, reading…
we love wooden blocks.

[Graco Doll Buggy: $7.99]
I couldn’t believe this when I saw it. Graco, the trusted baby gear brand
makes a doll stroller, and someone donated it brand new. And I only have
to pay $7.99 for it?! AAH! Olive (and her babies) are in heaven.

WELL, I had a blast doing the segment and thoughtfully curating gifts
that the littles in my life will love. I hope you’re inspired to go out and
find your own gifting treasures!
