MICROFASHION: thrifted vintage diy upcycled adorable

FUNCTIONAL TODDLER FASHION.

I get crafty with clothes, especially clothes for my little. There are so many avenues to create a great look, and thrifting is where to start. From there you can upcycle, DIY, find vintage pieces, find new pieces with tags still on, and pull together something great for under $10. Here’s a look at one of my favorite outfits of Olive’s as it represents so many sides of how I do fashion. And the great part about it is - she ran, jumped, climbed and slid at the park in this for an hour and it still looked great when we left. Functional toddler fashion.

Here’s my girl. I love having an almost entirely
monochromatic look with just a little pop of color.

SO much fun together at the park - thankful for modern
technology to have video of the early years - it goes SO. FAST.

OUTFIT BREAKDOWN:
vintage patterned peplum top: $0.99
denim leggings (new with tags on): $1.49
black “fur” vest — handmade by me from a thrifted scarf: $1.99
pink soft-bottom bow boots: $2.99
striped GAP socks (new with tags): $0.49
pink lace headband - handmade by me from thrifted lace top: $0.99
OUTFIT TOTAL: $8.94

LOVE finding vintage pieces in great shape. This top is one of my absolute favorite
pieces of hers. The vest took quite awhile to make from the scarf, but that’s mostly
because I’d never made a vest before, much less one so tiny, and without my usual
“pre-existing template” (a similarly shaped piece she already owns). I wanted it
longer in the front and back with cut up on the sides. Pretty stinkin proud of this
piece, and she can wear it over anything!

These leather booties have held up to a lot of toddler running (and falling).
It’s great for littles learning to walk to have the softer bottomed shoes so
they can feel the ground with their feet and improve their balance. I
seriously lucked out finding these. WAY expensive if you want to get them
non-secondhand.

Hope you enjoyed our play day look, and are inspired to
think outside the box on creating a look you love for less.
