Feelin’ Frayed
Okay so I’m not feeling “frayed” or “worn out” but my jeans definitely are. Destroyed, worn out jeans have always been a fad, but this blog will take it to the extreme. I love jeans that have gone through a little wear and tear. Whether it’s a light wash or a dark wash, the tears and ruggedness add a vintage, rustic vibe that’s much needed. I bought a pair of jeans that were originally $200 but don’t worry, I bought them on sale for $20! (a very HUGE sale I might add) Now this normal price is obviously crazy because you can make something like these for a total of $10 (or less) and a few minutes of your time.
First of all, (1) buy some oversized jeans of your choice. Any wash looks great all torn up. (2) Start with scissors by cutting out the lower knee to thigh area. Do this on both legs then (3) add a few more wear and tears up the leg. Fray the cuts as much as you can then (4)wash them! That’s when they fray the most. This pair I did minimal wear and tear. Do how ever little or more you’d like and it’ll turn out great!
Now it’s quite cold this time of year and these jeans do tend to show a lot of skin making them perfect for the summer BUT I have a very cute solution. Either wear leggings or tights underneath for extra warmth! Wear something under with a pattern or just a solid and it’ll make for a great layer-y, warm, vintage outfit!
My sister has on black leggings under these for extra warmth, black tights would work too. We’d love to see what you come up with, tag @thrifttown to show us your styles! Enjoy 🙂
