One turtleneck: four looks!

The cold weather is here and every girl (and guy for that matter) needs themselves a stylish turtleneck for their closets. It was virtually impossible to miss the turtleneck trend found all over the fall/winter 2015/16 runways. It’s by far one of the best transitional pieces and the perfect piece to layer and play with as we approach the really cold months. Here are some of the turtlenecks found on the runways per InStyle magazine.

I absolutely adore turtlenecks and use them a lot to transition my summer pieces to fall and winter. For example, take one of your sleeveless shift dresses, put a turtleneck underneath it and you are all set! And if it were me I’d add a cute beret, too!

Today I want to focus on layering the turtleneck. There are SO many variations that can be played with here: from dressy to hitting the ski slopes. Below are 4 completely different looks using one Gap cream wool turtleneck that I found at Thrift Town! It was brand new with the tags still on, too!

Look #1: Gap cream turtleneck, Calvin Klein feather down jacket, cream scarf, and Uggs. ($4.99, $4 on 1/2 of day from the recent 1/2 off sale!!! and $3.99 - Uggs are my own)

I’m kicking it off with a nice a comfortable and casual look that would be perfect around town when it gets colder or for playing around in the snow! Not only is the turtleneck stylish, but will also keep you warm. I am dying over this Calvin Klein coat and the fact that it was less than $5 made me SO happy Wednesday when I found it at the 1/2 off sale at Thrift Town!

Look #2: Gap turtleneck, Express striped cardigan, Banana Republic blue collared shirt, wool scarf, and Dooney and Burke vintage purse ($4.99, $2 at the 1/2 off sale, $3.99, & $4.99 )

I love layering in the colder months and especially love a challenge of making layering super cute and stylish. I am LOVING this look. It’s perfect for a casual day or brunch on the weekend! Add a pair of skinny jeans and boots and you are good to go!

Look #3: Gap turtleneck, J.Crew Merino wool grey sweater, jean jacket. ($4.99, $3.99 & $5.99)

This is another great casual look that could be taken to night with a cute pair of black skinny pants and some high heeled ankle boots! You could even wear the J.Crew sweater over the turtleneck with a fun statement necklace.

Look #4: Gap turtleneck, Max Mara Alpaca and cashmere coat, and Mossimo scarf. ($4.99, $10 at the 1/2 off sale yesterday! and $5.99)

OMG I almost fainted when I found this Max Mara Alpaca and cashmere coat on Wednesday at the 1/2 off clothing sale. Max Mara is ridiculously expensive new and for a whopping $10 I got myself a stunning designer piece. This is a great example of dressing up your turtleneck. You could also wear a dress over it and some stylish boots for a date night or night on the town. And the scarf not only keeps you warm, but adds that extra element of sophistication and glamour.

P.S. Want to know one of my hidden dry clean secrets? Nearly every time I buy a thrifted coat I immediately take it to get dry cleaned. Moths love wool coats, especially ones that haven’t been cleaned. So when you get your thrifted coats take it to the dry cleaners to help preserve it. I know you are all thinking it’s so expensive. Well, my tip of the day is to go to Save On cleaners. My coats only cost me $2.95 to clean!!! Yep, you heard right! Super cheap right?!?

I hope you enjoyed the four different ways I styled the Gap turtleneck. If you have any thrift or styling questions, please feel free to ask!

Until next time…

Love,
