Happy Hour with the Hubby
As the warmer weather approaches, so do thoughts of sitting outside and enjoying said weather. Which in turn makes me realize I have nothing to wear…so I head off to my local Thrift Town in Albuquerque, New Mexico located at 3900 Menaul Blvd. just east of Carlisle.
In my mind, warm weather +sitting outside=HAPPY HOUR!! I’m really not that much of a drinker, but the lure of half-priced appetizers and special drink prices AND the early hours, you know, some happy hours start at 3PM…well, how can one resist?
So, this time when I was looking around Thrift Town for something to wear, I wanted something that would take me from my work day straight to the sunny patio at any one of the many great restaurants here in Albuquerque for their happy hour.
Thrift Town did NOT disappoint!
Can you believe I found ANOTHER article of clothing from Evan Picone? Yes, I did! This blue patterned top from Evan Picone still has the tags on it!! It set me back $9.99 but is worth every penny. I’m kinda liking this pencil skirt from The Limited. I REALLY liked the $7.99 price tag. 😉 I went and checked out the jewelry counter while I was at Thrift Town for accessories but then I remembered I had a teal bracelet at home that I had scored here for a mere $1.99. The clutch? We’ll get to that in a minute. The shoes are my own.
Let’s see how the outfit looks on, shall we?
Out of the three Evan Picone articles of clothing I have scored on my last three trips to Thrift Town, this top is definitely my favorite. It’s my husband’s favorite too!
Now…lets talk about the clutch.
There is something special about this clutch. Can you guess what it is? Here’s a hint:
Hmm…what am I looking at?…and what is Miss Oreo doing?? Looks like she is saying hello! lol
Here’s what I’m looking at:
This vintage Lou Taylor clutch has a built in mirror! Isn’t that cool?! Want to know what’s even cooler? It’s stamped ‘Italy’ right on it!
Here are a couple more shots of the clutch.
Oh! I almost forgot to tell you how much I paid! Only $3.99!! SCORE!!
The total cost of this ensemble was around $24.00. Now, if I would have shopped on Monday, when Seniors aged 60+ get 30% off all clothing, it would have been under $20.00! Next time, I’m taking my senior husband and shopping on a Monday!
Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two boys in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else. 😉 You can also find her styling looks on her fashion blog for older women whosaprettygirl
