Birthday Treat
My husband just had a birthday…and every year on his birthday he buys ME a present. I know! How can one girl be so lucky! This year, I decided to take it easy on him and shop for my gift at Thrift Town.
Of course, we headed there on a Monday, to partake of their 30% off clothing for those ages 60+. After all, my husband just turned 64 and since I’m only 53, I can’t get the discount without him. 😉
Check out what I found:
This dress was the perfect find to wear out to dinner and a show with my hubby! It has a very Marilyn Monroe feel to it.
Check THIS out!
It’s hard to see, but this is a BRAND SPANKING NEW Evan Picone dress with the $49.00 Macy’s tag still on it! You can also see that the Thrift Town price is $19.99…but remember, I got it for 30% less which brings it down to $14.99…but THEN, I had a $5.00 off coupon!! My total price out the door WITH tax was $9.62!
Now, my first instinct was to pair this with some black espadrilles, but I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and add a pop of color.
I popped it with this pair of shoes…
These East 5th burgundy suede and patent sling backs are like new! See for yourself…
I know, right! And I only paid $7.99 for them.
I was so proud of myself for not going with a black shoe…and then my husband tells me that he wasn’t a fan of the shoes I chose. 🙁 Hmm…
I scored a bracelet in the exact same color for only $1.99.
I paired it with one of my fave necklaces $7.99 from Thrift Town.
Here is how it all came together for my night out with my hubby for his birthday.
Check out the back too!
Here’s another one of the front again.
I love that my husband was able to buy me a gift for his birthday and spend under $30.00. Thank you Thrift Town…and my husband thanks you too! 😉
Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two boys in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else. 😉 You can also find her styling looks on her fashion blog for older women whosaprettygirl

ps…there are advantages to marrying an older man—and discounts definitely count as an advantage!!!
Thanks Jodie! I was definitely going out of MY comfort zone in doing that! I do like having my own personal ‘Senior Discount’ around whenever I need it. 😉 hahaha
