Mommy Moments; Wizard of Oz Costuming!

My son Nico is staring as the Wizard in his school’s product of The Wizard of Oz! While the kids are working hard at memorizing their lines, the parents are working hard trying to come up with adorable costumes for the production. Though not necessary part of the costuming team, I decided to poke around Thrift Town to see if I could come up with a few of the needed costume pieces, and boy did I score big!

The first piece I decided to let the production use was this beautiful crown! This is the real deal, and I actually purchased it a few years ago and have used it for many costumes; beauty queen, evil queen, and now it will be used as Glenda the Good Witch’s crown! I also scored big when I came across this beautiful dress at Thrift Town Sacramento’s location. This was in an adult size though, and wasn’t sure it would fit our 10 year old Glenda. However, we have some very handy seamstresses on the costuming committee and as you can see, it fits Glenda perfectly!

Finally, my son Nico was in need of crazy slippers for his costume. I found these at Thrift Town for $2.99. At first he absolutely refused to wear the fuzzy pink piggy slippers, as he’s a rough and tumble big fifth grader! However, his drama instructor loved them, and alas, he wore them in the production!

The kids did an amazing job!

Happy thrifting!
