Name Brands…On Any Given Day

A couple of posts back I mentioned how I had found some amazing finds at my local Thrift Town here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That happens EVERY time I shop there.

I found a heaping buggy full of great clothing and spent HOURS trying them on. Unfortunately for me, none of it fit me. However, I was so impressed with the clothing I found that day that I deemed it worthy of a post.

Let’s see what I found, shall we?

Does this Worthington coat look familiar? My friend Doris pulled it for me as part of my birthday party at Thrift Town. At $40.00, the price was too steep for me. I eventually did buy this coat. It was during one of Thrift Town’s many 50% off sales. This coat was definitely worth $20.00. I LOVE it and get tons of compliments every time I wear it. Leather pants are totally on trend and I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair. These Moda International ones for $19.99 were not it. :-(

How cute is this colorful, polka dot Boden coat?! At $9.99, this coat was a steal! It was just a teeny bit too small. Boo hoo…

I seriously love plaid! This Ralph Lauren plaid blazer $12.99 did nothing for my figure. It’s the perfect jacket for mild weather like we have here in Albuquerque.

How about this J Crew 100% cashmere sweater? Yeah, only $9.99. Those pants? Bernard Zins Paris. I also found pants made in France that day too!

O…MG! This Chico’s Platinum jacket is brand spanking new ($88.00) with a Thrift Town price of $29.99. Guess what I found to go with it…that also didn’t fit.

Yeah, a brand new pair of Chico’s Ultimate Fit winter white pants for $15.99. I think I need to go back on my diet. After all, it IS a New Year.

Here are the two together.

Seriously, where else can you get a BRAND NEW Chico’s jacket and pants for a total of $45.99? Not at Chico’s, that’s for sure!

The picture doesn’t do it justice…but this army green BCBG Max Azria coat $49.99 was so beautiful in person.

I also found Escada dress pants, a Barneys New York black skirt and a Victor Costa black velvet strapless dress that day.

So many amazing brands are just waiting to be found at your local Thrift Town…and if you happen to find them on a Monday and you’re age 60+, well…you get 30% off!!!

Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two boys in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else. ;-) You can also find her styling looks on her fashion blog for older women whosaprettygirl

  1. I feel your pain. I just had the same experience, with finding some great clothes that were either too big or too small. Oh well, that just keeps us going more!

The thing is…I really, REALLY hate to try on clothes. Then to not have ANY of it fit… :-( Ugh.
But you’re right…it just keeps us going more.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
