I love layered style but the trick is to choose the right combination of clothing to avoid the bulky look and feel. Layer-friendly clothing starts with a thin base layer and what could be better than a flannel? Flannels keep you warm and add dimension to an outfit. A great place to pick up a flannel is at Thrift Town! I found a classic red, yellow, and green flannel for just $2.00!

A thin pullover sweater works well as a second layer. I found a cashmere Talbot sweater at Thrift Town for $6.99. The bright flannel under the solid sweater creates a nice contrast!

A lightweight jacket is an ideal third layer for the outfit. I found a tan, army-like Banana Republic jacket. The jacket provides warmth and adds a few style points! It is loose and has a good relaxed fit and look. This jacket was only $5.99!

If it is really cold outside, you can add a fourth layer. It was pretty chilly in snow country last weekend, so I pulled out the cozy, olive green Banana Republic coat that I found last year at Thrift Town. The jacket is lined with faux fur and has a fantastic canvas-like outer material. I love combining different fabrics, textures and colors and this combination works for me!
