Silver and Gold

Oh, the holidays…

Time spent with family and friends. Time spent cooking…yeah, I HATE to cook, but that is a big part of Thanksgiving. I like to dress comfortably when I’m cooking, so I headed to Thrift Town to see what I could find.

Can you believe I was at Thrift Town for over FIVE hours? Oh my gosh! All I was really looking for was some cute workout pants. After all, since the holidays are all about the food, I wanted pants that would stretch as I kept filling my belly. That’s not too much to ask, is it?

I found SO much cute, high-end brand clothing the day I went…like…a heaping buggy full. No kidding! None of it fit me…but I did take pictures and I might do a post about it.

Here is what I ended up buying to wear on Thanksgiving:

It all started with these $7.99 Ann Taylor Loft black pants. The material is 65% Rayon and 35% Polyester. They are super comfortable and cute! As soon as I tried these on ( which was like four hours into my five hour marathon thrifting session ) I knew that that is what I was going to wear for Thanksgiving.

Now, for the cooking/eating/watching a movie with the family part of the day, I paired the Loft pants with the silver Chico’s Synergy top which was $9.99.

Here are some staged photos showing me ‘cooking’. You know I always keep it real…

Here I am getting ready to do some ‘mixing’.

I’m ‘mixing’ and ‘mixing’…and I’m super comfortable while I’m doing it! Wait…here comes Miss Oreo…

Poor Miss Oreo! She actually thinks there is something in the bowl. Come on now Miss Oreo, you should know better than that!

Let’s talk accessories for a minute…

The gray flats $2.09 were from my 4th of July post. The $5.99 necklace is Monet and the silver toned bangle was half off of $3.99. This look came in at around $28.00. Not bad, not bad at all.

Sometimes the hubby and I like to try our luck at the local casino after we eat dinner.

That’s where the other top comes into play. It’s my back up /spare top in case I spilled something on my silver top. After all, if I was to win big at the casino, they take your picture for the whole world to see! Not really the WHOLE world…but you know what I mean. ;-)

Yet some more staged photos:

This INC brand sweater was only $7.99. Look how cute it looks paired with the front of my For Sale By Owner house! ;-)

It looks pretty cute paired with the eastern slopes of the Sandia Mountains too!

Let us discuss details of this look, shall we?

I have gotten SO much wear out of these $9.99 Lucky Brand flats. I thrifted these when I first started blogging for Thrift Town over a year ago…September 20th to be exact. I love the matte gold necklace $2.99 and set of five bangles$3.99-50% off, that I found to go with it. This second look came in around $31.00.

Are you part of Thrift Town’s VIP Rewards program? Do you shop on Monday’s to get the 30% off clothing discount for Seniors age 60+? If you’re not…you should be.

Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two boys in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else. ;-) You can also find her styling looks on her fashion blog for older women whosaprettygirl
