Keeping Your Options Open

On October 13th Thrift Town had their big 50% off all clothing sale, so my girlfriend and I headed there to see what treasures we could find!

Let me just share with you off the bat, the best find of the day…

When I was in the back of the store trying on coats, these Uggs (for only $7.99!) were just sitting there waiting to be found (by me) and were my friends size! It took some convincing on my part to get her to purchase them because she didn’t like how they looked but she did like how they felt. I told her the shoes are great just to wear around the house like slippers.

I, of course, had this long list of items I was looking for to feature in upcoming posts. Wouldn’t you know it, I couldn’t find anything on my list! This is the first time in a long time where I left the store with next to nothing. When I say next to nothing, I mean that I went home with only SIX items as opposed to eight or ten. 😉

First, I’m going to break down the list of what I got then I am going to show you various OPTIONS on how to wear them.

1. AB Studio (Kohl’s brand) sheath dress…$5.00

2.Gloria Vanderbilt (talk about an old school brand) denim pencil skirt…$4.00

3. Chico’s top…$4.00

4. Apt 9 top…$3.00

5. Adidas workout pants (for when I take Miss Oreo on a walk)…$5.00

6. Saks 5th Ave Folio Collection brown suede pumps (not on sale)…$5.99

Did you know on 50% off sale days you can use your VIP rewards coupon? Neither did I! Tiffany at my local Thrift Town gave me the 411 on that. Thanks Tiffany!!! So on this order I got an additional $5.00 off (which was like getting those Adidas workout pants for free) and walked out the door having spent only $23.00 total!

I know, I know…enough with the talking, show me some pictures! FYI: I won’t be showing the Adidas pants today or the Saks brown suede pumps. The pumps will be featured next month.

First up, the AB Studio sheath dress:

Option 1 keeps it pretty simple…I just added a necklace, bracelet and some blue flats.

For option 2 I changed out the necklace for a scarf, added different bracelets and paired it with black boots.

Option 3 adds one of my favorite thrifted treasures…this new with tags Levi’s denim jacket that I got for only $8.00.

Let’s check out how I styled the Gloria Vanderbilt denim pencil skirt, shall we?

Option 1 shows it layered with a green long sleeved t-shirt, a thrifted Eddie Bauer goose down vest, a scarf and a pair of brown riding boots. This look screams “Let’s go apple picking!” And when I say apple picking I mean go pick up a bag of already picked apples at the apple orchard while sipping a glass of apple cider and eating a powdered sugar donut. Oh how I miss the Fall season in Ohio! Boo hoo… ðŸ™

Options 2 and 3 are both office appropriate looks. You could easily pair them with a high heeled pump. This look features the skirt with the $3.00 Apt 9 top that I really like with these Lucky Brand flats that I scored ages ago at Thrift Town for $9.99 and they were new!

For option 3 I paired the skirt with the Chico’s top, a nude flat and a thrifted jacket.

By keeping my options open, I was able to create a lot of looks with just a couple of items!

Don’t forget to head to Thrift Town each and every Monday for their 30% off clothing for Seniors…aged 60+

It’s my birthday next month…another year closer to that discount…only SEVEN more years to go! 😉

  1. Love it all!!!!! My fave is the dress with the blue jean jacket!!!!

    • That’s my favorite too! The look featuring the denim skirt with the vest and boots was inspired by your comments about layering and a look for pumpkin picking. 🙂

  2. Georgina Russell
