TEEN DREAM: a sweet back-to-school wardrobe haul
If you’re a parent of school aged kids, you can agree that late August STINKS for your wallet. Why? Cause your kids need new school clothes, and it’s ridiculous how expensive it is to have your kids look cool wearing the latest fashions. Not to mention the drag of spending a whole day shopping with them, shelling out for a lunchbreak, dressing room roulette, debating hemlines and how tight is too tight…
While we can’t help you navigate your teen’s angst, we can help you not spend $18-$50 PER ITEM on your kids’ must-have wardrobe for the fall.
Thrift Town regular Anniah (Sacramento CA) was stoked for a big Thrift Town sale right before her teenaged daughter Khalia headed back to school. Finances were tight and a department store pillage was just not going to happen.
She was able to get 52 items for under $160! She posted this triumphant
picture on FB and we asked for a few outfit pics. In true teenager
form, Khalia sent us some selfies. Lookin’ good, girl!
Khalia’s style for fall is simple comfy solid layers.
This blazer gives the otherwise plain look some interest & structure.
It’s great to find the basics (like this black tee with the perfect fit)
and be able to mix & match with comfy outer layers for multiple looks.
Bright and simple with dark washed jeans.
Grey + lavender is a soft and subtle fall combination I can get behind. Khalia nails it on fit and form, with this look being perfect for the transitional weather of early fall.
Long blazers are so IN for fall. Khalia does a great job at sticking to her
style while integrating a trendy (and crazy affordable!) piece.
All in all, 52 articles of clothing, so obviously not all featured here, but all were affordable and made Khalia happy. She wasn’t settling for secondhand, she was celebrating it! Cheers to a new school year!
