Mommy Moments; Scrabble Coasters!

Posted on by Gina      No Comments

These adorable coasters have been all over Pinterest for quite some time, so when I came across a few gently used Scrabble games at Thrift Town, I grabbed them and decided to see if they were as easy to make as the pins made it seem.

Supplies needed: Scrabble letters, cork tiles, razor, modge podge, clear spray (optional).

Games: $2.99 ea. at Thrift Town

First thing you need to do is figure out what words you wish to spell out. For the size tiles I bought four, four letter words seemed to work best. Tiles vary in size, so you can choose how big you wish to go.

Once you have figured out your words. Apply a layer of modge podge directly onto the cork tile.

Add your letters/words, and apply another coat of modge podge on top of that. Wait for the project to dry before proceeding to the next step.

Once the coaster is dry, go ahead and use a razor to cut off the excess cork.

If you wish to add a layer of shine or if you want to add another layer of protection, you can do a clear coat of paint. I did not as I felt the protection the modge podge gave it would suffice.

These make great gifts for teachers, neighbors, house warming, hostess gifts, the list goes on. Very inexpensive and easy to make.
