Short & Sweet

I was walking through Nordstrom checking out the latest summer arrivals when a really cute pair of lace-trim denim shorts caught my eye! It was love at first sight and I knew I needed those shorts. One peek at the price though made my heart stop. Really?!? $90 for a pair of shorts?! It was ridiculous! So, I decided to make my own and knew just what to do!

Step 1: Find an old pair of jeans from Thrift Town (mine were $1.50!) Buy some lace ($3 from a local craft store.)

Step 2: Lay pants on a hard surface, mark at desired length and cut!

Step 3: Sew a thin hem on the shorts to stop them from completely unraveling. I turned my hem upward in order to have partial fraying on the outside cuff of the shorts.

Step 4: Turn shorts inside out and begin pinning the lace to the bottom hem of the shorts.

Step 5: Sew the lace to the shorts along the bottom edge.

Step 6: Turn shorts right side out and they are ready to wear!

Here are two other ideas for shorts that take hardly any time at all!

These shorts are super easy to make!!

I took another pair of jeans from Thrift Town ($1.99), cut them, bleached the bottom to give them an ombre’ look then drew a fun design on them using fabric marker!

These pink high waisted shorts were also simple to make!

Just cut ‘em, roll ‘em and wear these cute girly shorts that are perfect for summer!

Share your cool shorts on Instagram and Twitter and don’t forget to tag Thrift Town!
