High School Senior Edition: Thrifty Makeover…Mary
Remember THIS thrifty makeover?:
It’s Rebekah…and today’s thrifty makeover is her beautiful 18 year old daughter Mary!
Here is Mary’s ‘before’ :
She is graduating from high school this year and wanted a cute look to wear to all the upcoming parties to celebrate that milestone. Of course, I found one at Thrift Town!
We met at 6 PM on a Friday night. Wouldn’t you know it, I saw a bunch of my friends there! I guess Thrift Town is THE place to be on a Friday night! Who knew?
I met her at the dressing room with a buggy full of clothes. Mary was looking for something trendy that she didn’t already have in her closet. I pulled everything from dresses to shorts and brands from J. Crew to Abercrombie and Fitch.
Remember, Thrift Town has their Better Clothing all in one spot to make it easy on us.
She looked great in everything she tried on…I mean, who doesn’t look good at 18!
While she was busy in the dressing room I visited with Rebekah and my friends Lisa and Mike. Their daughter Madison was trying on Prom dresses and their son Ben was checking out a really cool pair of Nike. Madison ended up with a really cute dress. Hmmm…maybe she should be my next victim…
Back to Mary…we almost went with a really cute navy J.Crew eyelet dress, but we couldn’t find a pair of shoes to go with it. When I say ‘we’ I mean Rebekah and I. We left Mary in the dressing room to hunt down shoes for her. Okay, MAYBE we got distracted looking for shoes for ourselves, and MAYBE there was some dancing and singing going on in the aisles (Rebekah). She’s allowed because she found THE perfect pair of shoes.
Are you ready for the big reveal? Here is the ‘before’ again:
And now…the ‘after’ :
How cute is SHE?!! I’m loving the whole Hippie-Chic vibe of this maxi dress ($7.99). The Jean shirt was only $2.50 because it was a white tag item.
Here is a close up of all her accessories:
The bronze sandals were $7.99. The multi-colored bracelet was $5.99. The wing earrings were $3.99, and the hammered brass amulet necklace was $4.99.
Her total look only cost $30.79 because she used a $5.00 off coupon.
So, have I convinced you yet that you should check out your local Thrift Town?
Don’t forget…Seniors (60+) get an extra 30% off clothing each and every Monday.
Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two sons in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else.
When she’s not thrifting she is teaching five year olds how to read, write and be fashionable! You can also find her styling looks on her fashion blog for older women http://whosaprettygirl.com
