A Passion for Purple
I have a passion for purple! According to a color personality chart on the internet (and if you can’t believe the internet, what can you believe?) “purple people” are artistic, unconventional and tolerant. Those traits sound a lot nicer than temperamental, moody, sarcastic and irresponsible which are SUPPOSEDLY purple traits but I choose to completely ignore those. After all, I’m very tolerant (she wrote sarcastically).
Anyway, you have to admit, purple is an exciting color sure to get attention and put everyone in a great mood. Not surprising that purple is often associated with royalty. It IS an authoritative color so while you can wear a lot of it, head-to-toe purple is often a little too much. Because it’s a combination of red and blue, it looks great with a lot of skin tones and you can likely find a shade that works well for you. I tend to lean toward the bluish purples myself.
I went to Thrift Town with purple on my mind and wasn’t disappointed! This beautiful lined raincoat was only $14.99 and the purple blouse just $4.99. I love that purple can be the primary color or paired with brown, black and grey. I think purple looks especially elegant with charcoal grey.
I found two formal gowns in amazing purple but got a little silly in front of the camera so will spare you the pictures. On a more appropriate note, these lovely, 100% silk pajamas were a bargain at $9.99 and so soft to the touch! Even the guys can get in on this fashion color with this purple plaid shirt. And if you’re a guy and don’t think you can pull off purple, think about this: some researchers say that guys who wear purple have an easier time getting dates! Hmmmm…something to think about.
My friend grabbed this great purple casual handbag and those of you in Texas will recognize the horned frog pillow for TCU fans. I even liked the purple shade of the Balderdash Game which, by the way, was bargain priced at $3.99 – retails at $29.99!
I must not be the only one with purple in mind…my local Thrift Town just happened to have a wonderful purple display right in front of the store. Leave it to Thrift Town to let you pack a fashion punch with some purple without sucker punching your budget.
