Valentine’s Day…Fantasy vs.Reality

First, let’s set the mood shall we?

Start a fire… turn the lights down low…pour some wine…

Now for some music to set the mood…

“Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye

I’ve been really tryin , baby
Tryin to hold back these feelings for so long
And if you feel, like I feel baby
Come on, oh come on,
Let’s get it on
Lets get it on
Let’s get it on
Let’s get it on

WAIT. A. MINUTE… Let’s back this story up…

It all started innocently enough with a trip to the Thrift Town in Albuquerque New Mexico. As I was going up and down the aisles looking for inspiration I came across the sleepwear section. I thought to myself…hmmm, Valentine’s Day is coming up, maybe I can find something sexy to wear and surprise my husband.

You want to know who was surprised? It was me! What a huge selection of department store lingerie to choose from! I filled up my buggy and headed to the dressing room…

You won’t believe the things I tried on. Playboy bustiers, Frederick’s of Hollywood crotchless underwear, yes…you read that correctly…I know, I know…don’t judge me…it was for Valentine’s Day, remember!?!

They also had tons of lingerie from every guys favorite store at the mall…Victoria’s Secret. I made my “sleepwear” selection and then headed off to the housewares section to look for a couple of wine glasses. I struck gold and came home with two MATCHING wine glasses at 99 cents each.

NOW I’m finally ready to set the mood…

I’ve got the fire going…( though if a hot flash strikes, I’m screwed )… the lights are down low ( because let’s face it, I’m old and look better in low lighting…think candlelight )…I’ve got two glasses of wine poured ( really, it’s Welch’s Sparkling Red Grape Juice because I’m not a wine drinker ) and I have Marvin Gaye playing in the background ( and my husband proceeds to tell me he’s never heard this song before and I’m like…WHAT?!…and he ‘s like…I was living in South Africa at the time when this song came out and the country didn’t allow it to be played over there…It was actually BANNED! So was television.) Are you kidding me!?! I couldn’t live without Reality TV or QVC…just sayin’ 😉

Are you ready to see some pictures of me in my $7.99 Victoria’s Secret night gown that has a slit that ALMOST goes all the way up to my “hoo-ha”?

This is where the FANTASY part of this post comes in…

Notice the blurred edges of the photo? That’s because my husband is imagining this whole thing…

Here’s another one:

Man, that husband of mine has a great imagination! Look, I’m lying on a fur rug and everything! What an eye for detail! hahaha 😉

Now, come on ladies ( of a certain age )…I don’t know about you, but RARELY do I ever wear anything like this ( oh, who am I kidding…it’s actually NEVER.) Just ask my poor husband…

Here is the REALITY:

Aren’t these the cutest pajama’s ever?! They are DKNY brand fleece pajama’s, and they have pockets! LOVE THEM! They were a bit on the pricey side though…$9.09 and that was with the 30% off senior discount that Thrift Town gives every Monday for those ages 60+.

Did you notice the coffee mug I’m holding ? That was a mere 49 cents and it matches my pajama’s no less!

This next photo is a peek into what life is like at my house…

The minute I get home from work around 4:00pm , I get ready for bed ( come on now, I KNOW I’m not the only one. ) I grab a cup of tea, the remote, and a book… and relax in my Lazy Boy recliner until it’s time for bed. Don’t I lead the most interesting life?! 😉

So, tell me, what look are YOU going to rock for your “significant other” this Valentine’s Day?
