New Year…New You?
Let’s get physical…physical…I wanna get physical…NOT!!
A New Year is upon us and with that comes the infamous New Year’s Resolution! Last year mine was to learn how to use a computer and start my own fashion blog…and I did! This year my goal is to start vlogging…you know, video blogs…as if looking at photos of me wasn’t bad enough!
Most people choose to lose weight as their New Year’s Resolution and back in January 2011 that was mine. I started off the year weighing 153.5 lbs. My goal weight was 129 lbs. It took FOREVER but I finally hit my goal weight in July. I’m pleased to say that I have kept the weight off and actually manage to stay around 125 lbs. Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t have any body issues. The old muffin top is still my enemy as you can tell by my photos.
Sometimes, despite our best intentions, resolutions aren’t kept… so NOT investing a lot of money in it, is a good thing…that way you don’t have guilt over all the money you spent on something you didn’t follow through with. So I headed to Thrift Town…the one on Menaul Blvd. …right past Sonic
to find some workout clothes…name brand of course, along with a workout DVD.
Look what I scored:
Look at me being all cheesy…hahaha…and no judging me for wearing makeup. Trust me, know one wants to see me au natural.
Let’s talk labels and money. I’m in LOVE with this Adidas top ($9.99 ) It has sheer insets which my husband found sexy…go figure… AND 18% Spandex which made it feel uh-mazing!
Here is a close up picture of it:
The shorts are New Balance… $3.99 and have built-in mesh panties, not sure why…maybe they are running shorts? They also have an inside pocket to put your house key…I’m guessing. The black jacket is C9 by Champion… $5.99 and the pants are Nike…$9.99 , also with sheer insets and zip pockets.
Look at me working on my abs! It’s all thanks to my Star Trainers AB Blast DVD I bought at Thrift Town for only $1.99!
Everyone needs a great watch too, so you know how much longer the torture is going to last and this black sport chronograph watch with a bunch of extra features that I have no idea how to use, was only $1.99. Plus, the band is made of rubber which is good because you know I’m going to get all sweaty.
Add a pair of rhinestone encrusted sunglasses at $2.99 and I’m all set!
All of this is great but you know what the BEST exercise is? It’s WALKING!…and the best personal trainer is a dog.
Exhibit A…Miss Oreo
She’s the reason I have kept the weight off because I come home from work each night and walk her around the block…which happens to be two miles long.
How much did this cost me? $29.85…Hello!
Seniors…don’t forget your 30% off all clothing every Monday.
Comment below and let me know what YOUR New Year’s Resolution is. :)
Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two sons in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else.
When she’s not thrifting she is teaching five year olds how to read, write and be fashionable! You can also find her styling looks on her fashion blog for older women http://whosaprettygirl.wordpress.com
