Happy Clothes = Happy People

“Art is the most intense mode of individualism the world has ever known” ~ Oscar Wilde To me, fashion is the best way in which people can fully express who they are. What I always tell people is that fashion is art, the body the blank canvas waiting to be painted each and every day. Most days are spent dressing in business attire, but every once in a while it’s fun to go outside of the box and live on the fashionable edge.

Recently I found the most incredible sweater known to man. The lime yellow color caught my eye from across the aisle at Thrift Town. When I picked it up and noticed the gigantic smile face on it I burst out into laughter. (Sweater and Aldo ankle boots from Thrift Town, $5.99 and $9.99)

Today’s post is kind of a silly one, but sometimes we just need to have a little fun with our clothes! It’s when we really get to be creative, think differently, and hopefully inspire ourselves and others to try something new. IMG_0042

As many of you know I am a devout dress wearer, but this sweater needed to be purchased and worn ASAP. What does a girl wear with a bright lime sweater with a big ol’ smile face on it? I thought, “why not a pair of tights, ankle boots, and a fun stripped mini skirt!” IMG_0037

This past week has been bone chilling cold, and in the midst of the cooler weather most opt for dark and gloomy colors. I have a tendency to get depressed during the fall/winter months and treat my weather depression with a healthy dose of bright colors to cheer myself up. I mean, how could you not smile and laugh wearing this sweater?! IMG_0047

My biggest hope with my fashion adventures is to teach women and men to be different, think different, and most importantly be creative with your clothes. Trends are great, SOMETIMES. But, not every trendy thing is meant for people. Listen to your intuition and follow what feels right for YOU. My heart told me to buy the smiley sweater and I wore it multiple days in a row because of how happy it made me.

Have fun with your clothes!

P.S. Wondering how I did my hair? It’s a sock bun! I lost the matching pair to my socks and decided to recycle the sock instead of throwing it away. You cut the toe of the sock, roll it up till it resembles a doughnut. Put your hair in a high pony and start at the end of the hair and roll the sock along with the hair down till you get the desired bun. Easy breezy!

Until next time…
