Mommy Moments: Thrifty Thanksgiving Tablescape
Thanksgiving is THURSDAY! If you’re like me, and hosting this year, it’s time to start setting the table in preparation for your guests. My first stop once I get my tablescape game plan put together is always Thrift Town.
Thrift Town has a huge selection of great glass pieces in their housewares department. I have scored many times on what had to have been donated centerpieces from weddings and formal parties. One time I scored 12 flawless and beautiful glass hurricanes, all priced at $0.99 each! Thrift Town also has vintage and unique table settings as well for amazingly low prices. Check out this Thanksgiving tablescape photo shoot I did all using thrifted items I found at Thrift Town!
Thrift tip: you never want to miss the bins section of Thrift Town.
Why? Well, I always score big in this section grabbing beautiful linens to drape my tables with for pennies on the dollar. Here’s a thrifty tip for you; use curtains to drape your table(s) with versus traditional tablecloths. Curtains, especially the gauzy type of materials, drape tables beautifully and have finished edges making the bottom of your table as pretty as the top. You can also layer the curtains allowing for a very romantic and rich look. This is especially decadent on dessert tables. The most I have ever paid for my curtain tablecloths are $5, and they also have a wide selection of material remnants that can be picked up for dirt cheap. I picked up this burnt orange piece for $0.69 and used it for the base of my tablescape runner.
For a complete price breakdown and to see another beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape I designed, including vintage table settings, click the link below for the show I did on New Mexico Styles last week. You’ll also see how I used pine cones as place cards which adds a pretty personalization for free!
