Stylish Back to School Fashion on a Shoe String Budget
This was the first week back to school for many of our beloved teachers and what better place to shop for new stylish clothes than Thrift Town? I was on Good Day Sacramento this past Saturday promoting National Thrift Day and had the great idea of promoting Thrift Town as one of the best places to get your budget friendly back to school fashion for teachers.
I have quite a few friends who are teachers, and I have nothing but the upmost respect for them and all that they do for our kids. Something that is widely known is that teachers don’t make exorbitant amounts of money so to go out and spend hundreds on new clothes would be hard. I thought, “What about showing people/teachers that there are high quality items at Thrift Town for cheap!” What I wore for the segment was the perfect example of name brand fashion for beyond reasonable prices. I had on a beautiful black and white J.Crew dress and Mossimo flats that totaled, are you ready for this?…. $6.98! ($2.99 for the dress and $3.99 for the shoes) How cute are the ladies I’m interviewing? They are avid thrifters and told me that thrifting is their therapy. You can find the video of the Good Day Sacramento segment here: http://gooddaysacramento.cbslocal.com/video/9210019-national-thrift-store-day-part-3/
I had 3 minutes at Thrift Town to show the great viewers of Good Day Sacramento that I could find fashion friendly back to school clothes for great prices. During the segment they put 60 seconds on the clock for me to run around the store and come up with some great finds. In my race around the store I found a Gap dress, Express tops/bottoms, Mossimo dress, and Banana Republic silk blouse. Not a single thing was over $9.99 and because yellow tags were ½ off that day, some of the pieces were even ½ off! (What some people may not realize about Thrift Town is that on any given day a colored tag is ½ off) That’s some affordable fashion for our teachers!
After the segment, I realized that I wanted to give some more examples of ensembles that can be worn to school from Thirft Town. I found two great casual looks that are comfortable, stylish, and easy on the wallet. The first look is a long sleeved shirtdress by Ben Sherman that I love! ($9.99) It’s perfect for a teacher because it’s fashionable yet practical. With this dress you can wear it during the day at school with flats, and after class you can put on a pair of cute heels for a nice dinner out with friends. The second look is very basic but still stylish. I’m a big fan of color, but black and white is just so classic! The Dana Buchman blouse ($7.99) is stylish, yet so comfortable. The black Express capri pants ($6.99) and black Steve Madden flats ($5.99) are the perfect accompaniment to the blouse.
So, for all you teachers out there, remember there are beautiful brand name clothes at Thrift Town that won’t break the bank. You don’t have to spend a lot to look stylish and chic when heading back to class this year. I mean $2.99 for a J.Crew dress? Come on! If that isn’t style on a budget, I don’t know what is!
I would like to give a big thank you to all the fabulous teachers out there. I commend you for all your hard work, dedication, and wisdom you bestow upon our kids. To my 4th grade teacher, Ms. Greeson, thank you for making such a monumental impact in class that year. You changed my life for the better and made me believe that anything is possible, thank you…
Love,
