America LOVES it’s holidays, and the Holiday of Love is no exception. Seems like the moment Christmas is over, there is a retail explosion of red and pink with pushy sales for flower deliveries. If you go with the pushiness, you’re gonna be out an arm and a leg. We’ve gathered for you: a handful of thrifty & sweet ideas to embrace the day of love without breaking the bank.

Here’s a craft that you’ll make and save to bring out for Valentine’s Days to come: a DIY Valentine’s topiary.
(Find the whole tutorial HERE.)
Candlesticks are an easy cheap find at Thrift Town, and the pretty base for this project.
1. Cover straight pins in gold glitter.
2. Cut out flowers. (They make them from paper, but I think fabric flowers would be pretty too!)
3. Layer. Pin.
4. Cover the whole ball except where it attaches to the candlestick.
5. TA-DA! beautiful.
For your girlfriends, and maybe even your kids: an easy DIY pin. In our fabrics & housegoods section, grab fabric you like (doesn’t have to be felt, or a solid color) and recreate these little heart pins. Pinking shears, some thread, stuffing and a safety pin. DONE.
Add some love & sweetness to the Valentine table: fill a candle holder with conversation hearts!
Under $2 for totally cute!
What a touching gift for a mother or grandparent.
Thrift Town is full of frames, and this craft can be recreated for around $2!
Planning a quiet romantic night at home? Wine glasses are around a dollar a piece at Thrift Town, with easy to find matching sets on our shelves. Splurge on that bottle of wine you’ve been wanting to try and spend less on the glassware.
Speaking of that date night, if you’re going out for the big night, get dressed up for less! We have beautiful dresses, and heels, collared shirts, slacks and ties. You could easily put together a whole look for under $30.
Perfect for coworkers or neighbors: pie in a mason jar! You can find jars for around a dollar at Thrift Town. Insert your favorite pie recipe, bake and decorate the lid with fabric under the ring. Cloth napkins from our home goods department will do the trick!
Want to get you house or child’s room into the Valentine’s spirit? Head to our games department, grab a pack of cards, and string up all the Hearts to make a festive garland. Use a hole punch, and string ribbon, or as pictured here, little red & pink fabric strips.
LOVE these Valentine’s Day Mailboxes! Whether you’re young or old, everyone enjoys getting mail, especially love notes. You can recreate these inexpensively by shopping thrift stores for candlesticks (you can paint them), and old mailboxes.
