Supporting those with Disabilities in Utah
Thrift Town - Partnering for a better life for those with Disabilities.
Utah Association for Intellectual Disabilities is an organization in Salt Lake City Utah that has made some big strides in their first year as a non-profit.
Thrift Town has been able to partner with UAID, purchasing goods for its Salt Lake City store, thus providing additional revenue for the many great programs UAID offers their disabled clients.
Thrift Town cares deeply about persons with disabilities, and works hard to go above and beyond to support local programs / non-profits / charities who have aligning goals. UAID is no exception to the family of great non-profits Thrift Town supports in other states.
UAID is run entirely by volunteers; so much so that the rent and utilities at their headquarters is paid by a volunteer. One of the non-profit’s goals is to provide resources to people beyond fundamental needs such as housing, transit and medical help. UAID has offered social events at their Salt Lake City office ranging from board game nights to watercolor classes. To raise additional funds, they hold special events, such as a chalk art project in Draper, with donors purchasing a sidewalk square to sponsor its decoration.
The association’s other programs include refurbishing donated computers and providing them to disabled clients. It also plans to develop more employment opportunities.
It’s programs like these that really make a HUGE difference in the lives of those with disabilities, and their families. UAID is doing their part in Salt Lake City, and Thrift Town is proud to support them. Keep up the great work!
UAID’s website is still in progress, but if you would like to make a donation to their cause, please visit their current website. or send an email to: uaid.slc@gmail.com.
