Did I mention it takes about two minutes to assemble?
Here’s the supplies you will need in order to create the above for around $15 if you already have the pipe cutters:
- Four 10-foot long 1-inch PVC pipes (around $2.50 ea.)
- Four 1-inch T Couplings ( around $0.40 ea. I’ll show you a photo because I’m not fluent in construction language!)
- Two 1-inch elbow Couplings (around $0.40 ea.)
- Optional: Four 1-inch end caps for the bottom pieces (around $0.40 ea.)
- PVP Pipe Cutters (around $11 at a big box home improvement store)
If you wish to have a fully enclosed photo booth and not just a back-drop photo booth, you can make two of the above shown back-drop, and connect them easily by adding just a few more PVC joints (all 1-inch), and three more PVC pipes at around 50 inches in length (one connecting to the top on both sides, and one in the middle on one side only so people can get in and out of the booth. You most likely will need to add some sort of lighting if your booth will be located in a dark space. I suggest clamp lighting which you could place at the top of both sides of the booth. These are relatively inexpensive at big box home improvement stores, around $10 for two of them.
Once the PVC pipes were assembled, I used all white sheets found at Thrift Town for $1.99 ea. to hang on the pipes. I cut each end of the folded over stitched section of the top sheets and simply ran the pvc pipe through the openings. I used two sheets per 7-foot pvc pipe sections. Voila, instant back drop for your photo booth and no sewing required! Oh, and quick tip from Good Day Sacramento’s floor director…no need to de-wrinkle the sheets when hanging them as a back-drop! They actually add texture to the photos. Score!
I also got all my props at one of Thrift Town’s Sacramento store locations. The props really make the booth and you can work a certain theme into your props, or just have a bunch of random accessories and let your guest’s imaginations run wild!
My very own little Lone Ranger live on the Good Day Sacramento set in front of the completed backdrop.
Happy thrifting!
