One of a kind Kimono DIY! ~

If you love kimonos as much as I do, this is the perfect blog for you! This DIY is the EASIEST project yet. I’m serious, it requires ONE step! I’ve created two different techniques for you to choose from when creating a kimono. So first of all, I was inspired by kimonos that I own and that I’ve seen having fun patterns and unique textures to the point where I’ve become quite obsessed. They make for the cutest addition to any outfit, especially on these chillier fall nights when you don’t want to cover up your cute outfit but just need that extra layer OR you feel that your outfit is lacking and needs a boost of color! I just love kimonos and what they can accomplish with any outfit, however they can get pretty pricey… but I’ve found a solution - Thrift Town has so much GORGEOUS fabric and I was beyond excited when I found these beautiful pieces for only $3.99 and $5.99… What A DEAL! Now I have one of a kind kimonos that I must say, do get quite a lot of attention 😉

NIGHT SKY // To create look #1, lay the fabric down on the floor or somewhere flat. Make sure your fabric is at least 3 feet wide and 5 feet long. The size can very depending on preference. Measure the middle of one of the shorter sides. Then take your scissors and a cut vertical slit up to the half way point of the fabric. Look at the image to help guide. This is the easiest DIY I think I’ve ever done but its one of my favorites!

FALL LEAVES // To create look #2, lay the fabric down on the floor or somewhere flat. Make sure your fabric is the right size, as mentioned above, and now instead of cutting on the shorter side, I cut in the middle of the longer side and cut into the middle point. This style is now shorter in the front and back and longer on the sides. Next fold the fabric in half and cut a foot long slit in the center of the fabric to create a space for your arms.

On the long edge, cut a slit in the center into the middle of the fabric.

After you cut the slit, fold the fabric into half, short side to short side.

Next cut slits for your arms in the middle of the fabric once it’s folded.

Now for the sewing machine pros out there, the FINAL step which would make this DIY fully complete, is to sew a finish seem around all cut areas. SO CUTE!! Let @thrifttown know on instagram or Facebook how you DIY turned out! Enjoy~
