Patriotic Style
Happy 4th of July everyone…and Happy 79th Birthday to my dad! I just got back from Ohio where I got to visit ‘the old firecracker’ and my sister too.
Now, I hate to say it BUT…I’m not a big fan of the old red, white and blue together in fashion. SORRY! I prefer to mix red, white and black. That being said, I did put together two really cute patriotic looks for the 4th.
Here is the first one, which also happens to be my favorite:
I’m loving this old Navy top that I got from my local Thrift Town for $2.00! Did I mention that I went to Thrift Town’s 2 Day Memorial Sale? Yeah, I did. I paired it with my own white shorts. Not that Thrift Town didn’t have a lot to choose from, I just didn’t like how any of them fit. How do you like the straw bag? I spotted it when I was in line and the nice cashier went and grabbed it off of the display for me. $3.49 is all it cost me and it looks brand new.
How about those shoes? Here is a close up:
Aren’t these Gianni Bini ( a Dillard’s brand ) ballet flats the cutest shoes ever? They set me back $2.79. Score! The total cost of this look was $8.51.
Ready for look two? Here goes:
Now this one happens to be my husband’s favorite. Let’s take a closer look at the sweater shall we?
Brand new with tags from Gap…and only $4.00 because I bought it during day two of the Memorial 2 day sale. Hello!!!
Did you notice that I took the scarf that was tied on the purse in look one and put it around my neck in look two? Pretty clever, huh. Oh, and that scarf…it cost me 23 cents. That has to be the best bargain I have ever gotten at Thrift Town. Man I’m good.
Here is a close up of the cute quilted gray shoes I thrifted for $2.09:
The total cost of this look was $9.81.
Shopping at Thrift Town is certainly easy on my budget. What are you waiting for? Remember…seniors age (60+) get 30% off clothing every Monday!
Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two boys in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else.
When she’s not thrifting she is teaching five year olds how to read, write and be fashionable! You can also find her styling looks on her fashion blog for older women whosaprettygirl
